Pappy Van Winkle is good, and the aged varieties are delicious, though they get crazy expensive. Congrats on the anniversaries, fellas!

Pappy is fantastic, as is Lock Stock & Barrel, Whistle Pig, Michters, Blanton's and Hirsch.  I have a few of each at my bar at home.  Lately though, I've been on more of a cabernet sauvignon and Pinot Noir kick.  I live close to Napa so make trips a few times a year and stock up.

My boss was just raving to me this morning about Whistle Pig, although he kept referring it to Pig Whistle...  Anyway, I'll have to try that out coming from him and now you. Truthfully I'm more of a Scotch guy but the scotch list they had last night was just about everything I've tried so I went for the Pappy.

I can't do the hard stuff.  I'm getting ready to turn 40 so that's not a kid statement.  Brown liquor makes me feel 10 ft tall and want to challenge everyone.  I'm mutch nicer/funnier with just a few miller lites under my belt.

Pig whistle is what happens after I eat Taco Bell.

What are you doing eating Taco Bell? Didn't you buy a gizmo from NASA to make your homemade pork Al Pastor tacos?  If anything we should all be coming to your pad for some food n drinks!  You probably have your bar guarded by a 200 lb Rot, or a 12 guage.

I actually sent that contraption back.  It was way too big and bulky.

Can't actually remember the last time I had some taco bell.  That's not real Mexican food.  Hell it may not be real food period.

I think the meat comes in a colostomy bag, just add water and heat.

Big fan of ryes?  I am not, unless they get to a certain point where the aging lets the spice/rye notes on the back end mellow out a bit.  That being said, the standard 10yr Whistle Pig is a great pour and one that I do like.  It is 10 yr ,100% rye and bottled at 100 proof.  If you are a big fan of fruitiness, or look for specific fruit notes, this one might not be for you.  It does emit on the nose and palate strong vanilla, which I like, and has a nice long rye finish.

It is a must try if you have never had it, and one of it's big sisters- Old World 12 yr- is in my top 3 ryes.  It has a mixture of 3 different types of wine barrel finishes(Port, Madeira, and Sauterne) mixed in with 2/3ish of the standard Whistle Pig.  In this release, the fruit notes seem to really pop, and the pour turns to velvet.  Really smooth and very drinkable, just the price point jumps a bit to around $120.

Image result for flaming pig whiskey
Speaking of pig whiskey, I recently tried this spiced Irish whiskey. A decent shot or neat drink. I like it better than Fireball.

I am a fan of the flavored whiskeys that have seemed to have saturated the market. My favorite is Black Velvet toasted carmel followed by Jack Daniels Tennesse honey and Jim Beam apple.

I have not tried the Old World, but this description is spot on for the regular Whistle Pig.  It's easily one of my favorite ryes and one that you don't need to be crazy about ryes to enjoy.  Super smooth, very clean, and while the rye bite is present, at no point is it really over powering.

I have been leaning rye for w while. If you ever see copper fox rye, I would pick that up. Copper Fox is kinda local to me in Northern Va, just in Culpepper and I think they just opened a distillery in Williamsburg. Nice and smokey, slightly sweet finish. That being said, thank you Jeff for giving me the scoop on Whistle Pig, I'll give it a go!!

If you like Laphroaig, and get an extra couple of bucks, Lagavulin 16 will be your new favorite whisky.  If you like Laphroaig, and don't get an extra couple of bucks, Johnny Walker Double Black is actually really good.

I have top self tastes, but a bottom shelf budget, and I am kind of a moron, so I middle it pretty effectively with Royal Crown Royal..........

It takes some doing to regularly find Royal Crown Cola around here anymore, but after knocking back a few, the soda get conserved while I finish fueling up  on Crown..........and then hilarity ensues.

I believe Crown Royal made a maple syrup flavored whisky at one point.  It was completely un drinkable and disgusting, but it would have been the perfect breakfast condiment for anyone who believes breakfast is the most important meal of the day and that sobriety is total ***.  If you've ever thought to yourself, "I love pancakes, but somehow they just aren't getting me drunk." this is the liquor for you.

I was at the Wilderness Lodge in Disney and they make a dessert drink with maple whiskey, vanilla ice cream and salted carmel syrup. It was quite delicious. I have made it at home on special occasions.
