pbrussell Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 How is there not a thread dedicated to bourbon in here? Or whiskey in general? I couldn't find one so here we go. What have you guys had in your glass recently? I just polished off a bottle of Ezra brooks 12 year (blue label) not long ago. Been working on that bottle for a longggg time. It was decent, probably why it took me so long to finish it. I currently have a bottle of buffalo trace, and elijah craig 12 year sitting on my counter. Both are some of the better bourbons I've had in a while. Registered at my local store for a bottle of pappy van anything. Hopefully they draw my ticket (or my wife's). Quote

Super User BrianinMD Posted November 19, 2015 Super User Posted November 19, 2015 Catoctin Creek Distillery (Purcellville, Virginia) Rye Whiskey is outstanding. 2 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted November 19, 2015 Super User Posted November 19, 2015 I like whiskey and coke but usually stick with cheap stuff. I have never found a cheap bourbon that l like so Canadian Club is my usual choice .I can find it for ten dollars a bottle . If I splurge I get Jim Beam Black , Jack , or Crown . 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted November 19, 2015 Global Moderator Posted November 19, 2015 I haven't drank liquor of any kind since 4th of July weekend 1973. I have unopened, sealed bottles of Canadian Club, Wild Turkey, Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Black and White, Lord Calvert and various liqueur's... And 2 bottles of Crown Royal still in thier blue velvet bag. They all probably taste like varnish but I keep them anyway. Mike Quote
Turkey sandwich Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 We have a Bourbon thread someware? Turkey 101 in my cup but you knew that. Wild Turkey 101 is delicious. It's my favorite bottle for under $30. Have you tried Rare Breed? And now that the air is getting cold, peaty Scotches are perfect. Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Talisker, etc all kinda rock once it starts to get cold at night. Quote
desmobob Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I generally like speyside Scotches the best, but lately, have become enamored with good ol' George Dickel rye. I had never been a rye drinker, but after seeing Dickel finish very high in rye reviews (against some pretty high-dollar stuff, at that), I decided to try some. I love it! Tight lines, Bob 1 Quote
Turkey sandwich Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I really love that about whisky. Price tag doesn't really matter as much as personal taste... For the most part. 1 Quote

Good point about price points. Liquer is much like wine and cigars, once you find what you like and know how to look for it, you don't need to spend alot, you can, but you don't need to. My favorite cigar is local house blend Robusto for $4.97, absolutely love it. 1 Quote

I'm committed to not totally suck at fly fishing by 2017... Or at least get back to enjoying cigars. Quote
Ringonu Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Elijah Craig 12 year is almost always in stock at my house unless I drink it all. You can't beat it for price, taste, and proof. It's $24.50 where I live. Quote
