Ben Lipiec Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 what do you guys use to glue your weedgaurds in? im not molding them into the jig because im changing the angle of them. am i better off glueing them in before i paint or after? i have been trying the zap a gap super glue and its leaving a white mark on the weedgaurd and the jig, even when i am very careful and dont get it on the jig. could it be the vapers? thanks, Ben Quote
basspro96 Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 After you paint. I use super glue. But some guys use epoxy..I am too slow to use epoxy Quote
cadman Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Yes the white stuff you refer to is the vapors from cyanoacrylate in the super glue. You should be able to wipe it off after a day of drying. I use Loctite Gel Super Glue and 2 part epoxy Quote
cadman Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 use a 2 part epoxy On your epoxying the weedguards. I assume you are using D2T. How do you keep your weedguards from leaning to one side? I do not use a full weeedguard any thoughts? Quote
DPercival Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 I use clear liquid nail... and have yet to have a weedguard come off. I have made over 500 jigs and they all were glued in after I painted the heads. You will just have to take a small drill (I use a dremel) with an 1/8th drill bit. Works like a champ. Quote

Where do you get the clear liquid nails, and how long does it take to dry. Quote

How do you keep your weedguards from leaning to one side? I do not use a full weeedguard any thoughts? I'm using a marine epoxy. Holds great. I've never noticed weed guards leaning unless like your instance of not using the whole guard. I'd look at cuting fibers off the gaurd instead of pulling them off that way you get a full seal. Quote
