freelancer27 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Hi guys,I am wondering if you have an opinion on the following. I am looking for a Reel and a backbag from TW that would cost me around 400 USD as of today.I am wondering if I bought the items tomorrow I would eventually have the items by the weekend (I live in Cali). Though with Black Friday coming up, there might be some considerable savings in there for me in that purchase.Do you think if Tacklew warehouse would give me a credit or somehthing for the purchases that I made? My thinking is here, that I could just send the items back and order them again with the 20% discount (since I am still in the 14 days return window).Them just giving me the discount via a credit would save them and me a lot of pain and would avoid unnecessary waste of resources. What are your thoughts? tander Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I say either buy them now at full price or wait until Black Friday for the discount.I don't think they should give you any credit for buying them now and wanting the discount on BF. 2 Quote
Big C Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 They probably won't give you credit. Just wait for the sale, if you really want to save the extra dough. Quote
Missourifishin Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 There are a few items I'd like to have shipped to me asap too. I'm just waiting for the sales though. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted November 18, 2015 Super User Posted November 18, 2015 Definitely thinking you should just wait one more week. If there are a handful of essentials maybe just buy local or pay the regular price at TW... buying $400 of things and returning all of them to just reorder the exact same things is going to be a red flag. Better yet, what's going to be in that $400 order? They're about to get too much of my $ as well... Quote
freelancer27 Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 Hm ok.I want to get the Lew's Team Pro Speed Spool Casting Reel , which is currently on sale. I am worried that it might be quickly sold out during the deal. Quote

I am worried that it might be quickly sold out during the deal. Keep an eye on their on hand stock. Â You could also call them and ask if that reel is going to be on their sale list as some items aren't marked down. Â Then if not well you have nothing to loose if you get it now. Â If it is you can try calling right before Thanksgiving and asking if they can take an order for you as you "won't" be in town and would like to purchase one when they go on sale. Â They may do, they may not. Â What do you have to loose asking. 1 Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted November 18, 2015 Super User Posted November 18, 2015 TW sale starts on the 27th..just wait it out and save the 20% Quote
Super User tomustang Posted November 18, 2015 Super User Posted November 18, 2015 A company gives out a super deal, but then others want even more?? You're pushing a bit much there. If you really need it, you wouldn't wait 2 Quote
freelancer27 Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 Another option that I think I have is to use the Price Protection feature of my discoverIT card. They should be able to reimburse me the difference. Quote

BassThumb Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 . . . avoid unnecessary waste of resources. What are your thoughts? Â Â Here's a thought: Be honest and don't try to scam people or companies, especially those with a long track-reconrd of exceptional customer service. 4 Quote

Super User MickD Posted November 18, 2015 Super User Posted November 18, 2015 If I were TW, and I could recognize you, I wouldn't take your order. Â Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted November 18, 2015 Super User Posted November 18, 2015 I suppose 'scam' might be too strong a word...but buying it now...with a plan to return it.....so you can get more discount than anyone else...all the while ensuring that the vendor doesn't have access to that reel to sell to someone not playing games....just doesn't sit well with some of us. Seems a touch unethical. However, if your credit card will cover your difference without the 'games', then I think you'll steer clear of us moraity police Quote
freelancer27 Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 Oh ok. Sorry if I offended someone here. I just simply wanted to see what is possible here. If you guys do not consider any possibility to save a buck or two, than you are in a more fortunate position. Quote
AnglingNvirginia Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I would wait til Black Friday but I'm sure if u order it an it goes on sale, they might reimburse your money Quote
blckshirt98 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 If you're shipping to a California address and spend over $50, TW has free Golden State Overnight shipping. Â It might take 2 days but usually I've received my stuff next day if you order early enough. Â This is one of the best perks for me living in CA and ordering through TW. Â I hear you about the "buy to return". Â There was a story about a guy wanting to film a documentary but was broke and doing the "fund it on credit cards" thing that once "bought" a handheld camcorder from Circuit City, with full intention to return it after the 30-day money back guarantee period. Â He used it to film his documentary within those 30 days. Quote
Super User MickD Posted November 18, 2015 Super User Posted November 18, 2015 " If you guys do not consider any possibility to save a buck or two, than you are in a more fortunate position." Â It's not about "fortunate," Â it's about ethics. Â If you cannot see that, too bad for you. 3 Quote

If you guys do not consider any possibility to save a buck or two, than you are in a more fortunate position. I understand your position on wanting to save a buck or two. However, you're looking at a ~200$ reel that if bought next week during the sale would save you 40$. I'm not going to pretend like I know your financial situation because saving money when possible is great, but if jumping through hoops (buying a reel now so you can use it this weekend, returning it AFTER you used it, and then buying it back to save a few dollars) has crossed your mind to save 40$, perhaps you shouldn't be spending this money in the first place. Anyway you try to word it, what you are wanting to do is extremely unethical and shady towards TW.  You can always call and ask if they will do it for you early but it's unlikely.  If your CC will reimburse the difference, that's a great option. 1 Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted November 18, 2015 Super User Posted November 18, 2015 Or buy it somewhere besides TW. They sell everything at full retail. I'm sure it can be found online for cheaper without trying to get over on someone. Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted November 19, 2015 Super User Posted November 19, 2015 I would second calling them to see if it will still be on sale for Black Friday. Since it is already on sale, that may be the price until they are sold out. I wouldn't count on them dumping the price anymore. At this point I would love to be 400 bones fortunate. I got a 100 dollar gift card for a bonus at work that I will use to get the discounted TW gift card if they run that deal again this year and then attempt to wait till their big Memorial Day sale to spread my money as far as I can. I am with the others, I get stretching a buck, but purchase, return, repurchase bugs me. They are a buisness and need to make money too. If they start to see people trying to do this they may either change their return policies to something less nice or offer fewer sales because people are exploiting potential loopholes. 1 Quote
DaleGribble Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 As someone who works in retail, you guys are making me proud. You'd be surprised how many times I've been asked this question this week... 2 Quote

The stuff in the Sale List at TW if I recall has always had the price discounted further when you add them to cart.  They have those Daiwa Lexa 100 reels marked down to $60, and when adding to cart at a prior sale they received the full 20% markdown (I snagged three of them...they have one left too!).  Also applied to the Steez on clearance as well. 1 Quote
