Siebert Outdoors Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 I've been working on these for about a week, and learning how to carve cranks. What do you guys think? Quote

RobE Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 GMAN and all you other lure-crafters - I hope you guys don't get me started on another 'hobby'. I just started building rods in the last year and this looks like it is too closely related. :-/ If I do take it up, though, I won't blame you. There's a lot a very sweet baits posted in here! Quote
Stringjam Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Nice - - looking forward to seeing the finished product! Quote
Super User islandbass Posted February 12, 2010 Super User Posted February 12, 2010 G, They look really good! As one who just went through this just last year, I can tell you that the easiest part is the carving. The real challenge will come in getting the bait to list (sit upright in the water unaided) and that will take a combination of weight and location of the weight). A good place to start is at the bottom most part of the bait to insert the lead or tungsten. I'm excited for you, bud. It's an awesome journey. @ RobE: Go for it. The rewards are immeasurable. There is nothing like catching a fish on a lure that you made. I assure you that it will be even sweeter knowing you carved and shaped the blank by hand and it was enough to get a fish to bite. Quote
Taylor Fishin 4 life Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 looks good kinda similar to the poe crankbaits Quote
