My son and I airbrush RC car bodies, heli canopies and "foamie" airplanes. We've found a TON of good information in Youtube for basic airbrush setup and painting techniques. That said, I'll leave the bait painting up to the pros  :)

Aerosol freezes up and stops, then thaws, then stops.  You'll be hatin' it :)

Aerosol will not take you were you want to go.   Save you cash and get a compressor.   I got a 4 gal pancake compressor on sale at harbor freight for 50.00 bucks and it works fine.

For paint, I only use water based paints and taxidermy paints are my favs.   I still use some transparent colors from Createx.

There are no rules for painting baits.   Prime the bait and let you artistic skills flow.   When you have more specific questions, come back here and you will get answers.

Good luck and have fun.

some popular brands of airbrush paint are Createx, Auto Airs (actually owned by createx), Smith Wildlife Colors, PolyTranspar, House of Kolor (don't think they make waterbased paints though), and idk i'm probably forgetting som. personally i use Wildlife Colors

You want to use water based acrylic paint.  They are non toxic and easy to clean up.  Shoot a base coat of white paint, then the colors.  Finish off with a durable clearcoat like epoxy.

Createx is a popular brand sold in most hobby shops.  It's formulated for airbrushes so it shoots well and won't clog like cheaper "hobby acrylics".  An airbrush uses very little paint, so a 2 or 4 oz bottle will last quite awhile.  For a more varied color palette, you can order airbrush paint like Smith Wildlife, Van Dykes, or Polytranspar online from places like taxidermy.com, coastairbrush.com, etc.

Check out some airbrush sites for tips and techniques but you'll need 'time on the brush' to learn airbrush skills.  It's like fishing - you will get better but there will always be room to improve and learn new things.

Many of the RC modelers I know buy all their equipment and paint from Chicago Airbrush Supply

http://www.chicagoairbrushsupply.com/

When I order from them, I get it in about 2 days. Never a problem. They have quite an assortment of paints as well.

Buy a quart of black so you can practice your tapered lines with your DA brush 8-) That's an art in itself!!

Here's my airbrush masterpiece............... ;D
