It may not be that great but it is all we have:

http://richmondfishingexpo.com/

I have a good time and see some old friends.

For you guys in Virginia please consider attending this event.

You can also hit Bass Pro Shop and Green Top to and from the event.

It's on my calendar, first time going. I pretty much stopped going to gun shows so hope the fishing expo has more "substance" than gunshows of last few years.

Probably been 5 years since I've made the trip. Might have to do it this year, though-- always liked Greentops.

Maybe some of the BR folks can coordinate lunch or something? Is the BBQ place still right next to the venue?

68, check out the web page for the speakers' schedule.

Excellent presentations.

You will have a good time if you go.

Just be friendly and speak with the vendors.

Our own Bobby Uhrig will be there and he is a wonderful ambassador for bass fishing and the Forum. Look for his booth.

At least it is a taste of bass fishing during  the winter time in Virginia.

Leonidas, there are no restaurants around Meadow Park.

If I recall, I think food is sold inside the building.is

The BBQ place you remember is still there but it is not by Green Top's new location.

I have no idea if there is a BBQ restaurant by the new Green Top location. I know there is a pizza place and other restaurants in the area.

I go to the Expo on Friday, before the Saturday crush, unless there is a presentation I want to attend on Saturday.

Check out Green Top's new location and where the Meadow Park is located, about a mile east of Kings Dominion.

I think you will like the new Green Top location (old Gander Mountain building) and of course, the BPS off exit 89.

Have a safe trip.

Your right, seminars and speakers look great, there quite a few I will check out. Oneof my goals will be to check out custom rods, there will be several builders there so I'll check each out.

Don't forget to swing by the Appomattox River Company booth at the back as well and say hi.  We'll have the latest and greatest models of fishing kayaks for you to check out.  I'll be there working for Hobie and ARC.  And 68Camaro, I'll have a few of my custom made rods on display you can check out.

I may check it out this year but like every year, it depends on the weather.  It seems that the past few years it has been decent weather so i usually go out fishing instead.

Fly, it is in your back yard.

You can hit 295 to 95 North and then exit at Kings Dominion.

Or take the back roads if there is no snow or ice on the roads.

Probably a half hour trip.

Oh i know, I do a put in up there when i float the north anna to the pamunkey and end up at the 301 put in/take out.   That is a good float now that i am thinking about, just pretty long, especially with the shorter daylight hours now this time of year.

I went to it a few years ago and picked up a few things at a decent price and watched a few seminars and they were pretty good.

Last years seems like just yesterday.  Made for a nice way to spend a winter day.  I particularly enjoyed Jacob Poznowronacaziak (sp???) , Davey Hite, and even Bobby Uhrig.  I was also pleased to discover Daves Tournament Tackle, with which I've done more business throughout the year.

That's a dangerous response. Each one offers something specific I am looking for in a single craft, like rods maybe "just one" isn't the answer:)

Not sure. Check out Wxrisk.com on Facebook for his complete forecast.

David says that it is up in the air and that the chance for snow maybe a glitch in the computer.

Check out his entire report.

Here is what I could copy and past from his Facebook post. Just remember, nothing in concrete at this time and if we do get snow it may be on Sunday, January 17th.

** ALERT** IS THERE A SURPRISE NC VA MD DEL SNOWSTORM for this SUNDAY JAN 17? MAYBE

Over the past week we have talked about the amount of energy in the southern jet stream ( because of the El Nino ) and the number of different weather systems that the various weather models are having trouble figuring out how to develop AND handle.

FIRST there is the coastal LOW coming this weekend which will be rain for all the Middle Atlantic states and perhaps even.

Now all that being said let's be careful here. This is a BIG change from what the previous model runs were showing. So far no other model is supporting this solution. Let's see what the midday European showing before we get all excited. The midday Canadian model has no such a big storm along these Carolina Coast and it has no significant snow on the Canadian model across any portion of North Carolina Virginia or Maryland. So we may be looking at a model hiccup or glitch or perhaps as the model trend the start of something new.

This image shows what the 12Z WED GFS model is depicting and as we can see it's a very strong powerful area of LOW pressure the races up the coast and really hits NC VA MDE DEL with significant snow. But again we have to wait and see -- WE ARE NOT FORECASTING A SNOWSTORM FOR SUNDAY JAN 17... this is a VERY different solution for what the previous models have been depicting over the past 2-3 DAYS

to Boston. Once this system moves off the New England Coast a bitter cold arctic air mass will come plunging into the eastern U.S.. The arctic cold will reach the Ohio Valley on the 16th and the East Coast on the 17th.

However the weather models have been insisting that there IS a second LOW coming out of the Gulf of Mexico which will track across Florida. The surprise is that the 12z midday Wednesday
GFS model is now developing this system more rapidly and as a result it tracks MUCH closer to the SC NC coast. With all the arctic air in place over NC VA MD DEL the precipitation type would be all snow and it would be heavy or significant snow like that.--- ASSUMING THE GFS MODEL IS CORRECT.

Well, I got stung for a Powell 3D max rod.  They had a great deal, 15% off, plus free Diesel rod (went to the wife), and a hoodie.  Thank you Bait Monkey!

Left work early Friday to check out Richmond Fishing Expo before the crowds got there on Sat. and Sunday. I got there at 2pm and left at 6 pm.

It was really fun and I was able to catch a seminar with a B.A.S.S. Elite Tour Champion on overall fishing strategies and another seminar on Finesse fishing with Pro. Both pros were informative and entertaining. They were worth the price of admission alone.

By beating the crowds I was able to strike up good non-rushed conversations with many anglers and exhibitors. Good assortment of exhibitors also.

On purchase side, I picked up some of my favorite jigs in favorite colors, a cool tool for putting thin rubber stoppers on trailer hooks and wacky worm hooks without stabbing my finger and best of all I picked up a JB Customs 7' frog & rat rod I plan to use for jigs, this is heavy power with fast action.

All in all real good show.

Howe were the crowds today?
