JGBassinAL Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 American Legacy Fishing has the Daiwa SV 103 in stock which is built on the same platform as the OG Zillion. This is the only place I have noticed to have it and while this might be old news, I just wanted to let you all know... Here's the link: http://www.americanlegacyfishing.com/daiwa-sv-low-profile-casting-reel.html 1 Quote
poisonokie Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 they have the 6.3 at tackle direct and are getting the 7.9 at the end of the month, I believe. $300, though? Ouch. Quote

Yeah that's a tough price but for people who don't like the tws and new zillion platform, it's probably worth it. I know you can get the new Zillion for much cheaper but I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who paid $300 for it as well. I'm a Shimano guy so I don't have to worry about it anyways haha Edit: I paid $300 for a Met so I can't really say that I wouldn't pay $300 for an SV103 haha Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted November 13, 2015 Super User Posted November 13, 2015 I will be getting one. I wonder if parts from the TDZ and original Zillions will be swapable. The spools probably won't be... Quote
5fishlimit Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I will be getting one. I wonder if parts from the TDZ and original Zillions will be swapable. The spools probably won't be... My understanding is that the SV spool from this new Zillion will fit the previous generations, too. Quote

The spools probably won't be... Dollars to Donuts it's the same tooling as the OG Zillion so the spool should be able to swap into the old girls. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted November 13, 2015 Super User Posted November 13, 2015 I'm glad they kept the look of the original. The OGZ is about as bulletproof as they come. I'll be picking up the SV spool for mine more than likely. Not sure I wanna take out the 100m spool though. It works great in that platform. Quote
travis23 Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I don't think the new SV spool has been confirmed as fitting the OG...or have I missed a post? I thought it was just speculation at this point... Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted November 14, 2015 Super User Posted November 14, 2015 Spoiler alert....I've been waiting for these and will be buying 1. Quote
travis23 Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Haha looks like American Legacy is out already. No good. Quote
Hogsticker Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Perhaps I'm wrong, but my understanding was when people went to order through American Legacy they actually did not have them in Stock, though the Web site showed otherwise. I think someone called Daiwa and was told they should hit the shelves December / January. It also hasn't been confirmed that the SV spool will drop right in without adding spacers. Nobody has one yet to confirm. That's the last thing I recall reading anyways. Quote

Super User Chris at Tech Posted November 15, 2015 Super User Posted November 15, 2015 OG Zillion fan here! NIce to see the platform not totally retired but does what's so different about this one? Why should I pay $300 for this one when I can find a bunch of fantastic deals on the OG Zillions? Quote

The difference in price will come from the SV spool, frame materials being lighter, better and higher lbs of drag, and possibly a few other differences. Quote
Grantman83 Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Probably a 4 bearing handle as well Quote
k3bass Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Wasn't the OG Zillion 300 dollars anyway? Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted November 16, 2015 Super User Posted November 16, 2015 Wasn't the OG Zillion 300 dollars anyway? Yes sir, MSRP was right around there give or take. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted November 17, 2015 Super User Posted November 17, 2015 The original was around $270, if memory serves. All the variants were priced higher, so $300 for the new and improved version is not bad. If it is indeed new and improved. Speculate all you want, but the jury is still out on that one. I have four Zillions; three different versions, and all are great reels. Looking forward to handling one of the new ones. Quote

Maybe it was 270 when it was introduced, it was out for a long time. Quote
