Got the call today. Insurance approved my shoulder surgery. This will be the 3rd one since 2010. Scheduled for next Wednesday the 18th. Doc is going to drill a bunch of holes in my shoulder blade and sew back on the trapezius and/or rhomboid muscles that are torn off. 4-6 weeks off work and 6-8 months of PT should have me at 70-80% range of motion and hopefully pain free. With any luck I'll be back on the water just in time for all the recreational boaters :mad10:.  If this one doesn't work, I'm done and just going to deal with it until I drop dead in another 40 years or so.

Anyway, I welcome a few prayers that the doctors don't kill me. If they do, it's been a slice and I'll see you guys on the other side.

Best of luck to you!  Don't worry about the doctors killing you.  They're extra careful because that would cost them a fortune in increased insurance rates.  ;-)

Tight lines,

Bob (sporting a couple of screws in my right shoulder; 2 operations)

You have got my my support. I'm pulling for you. I'll even cast for you & then hand the rod back while your rehabbing. Just picture Steve Parks in a shoulder sling while fishing. That will motivate you.

Best of luck on it being a much quicker recovery than you're expecting... maybe your PT will be a fisherman and incorporate some on the water time as part of your rehab.

Well, it might not cost them more in insurance rates, but they would definitely lose a patient, and any future fees they might receive from treating him.

Good luck. I've got a crap shoulder too and going to see a surgeon in a few weeks. Don't really trust any of them to sort the problem out to be honest, but will be interesting to get his opinion. Hope yours gets resolved this time.

I wish you well Sloan. I suspect that like me, you are too ornery to kill easily.
