Question?

Anyone purchased or used the Lews american hero baitcast combo from Sportsmans warehouse?

Thinking of purchasing one and just wanting to get some advice.

Thanks for any input good or bad

I have the Lew's Carbon Blue combo (bought it in Sept) and I believe its the same rod and reel as the AH.

.It's my first jump into baitcasting. I love the thing. I watched a few youtube vids on how to set up and cast, 2 weeks later I could throw the thing further then my spin gear.

I can cast with pretty good accuracy baits as low as 3/8th ( a hook and a 5" senko) I still make mistakes time to time but all in all, thumbs up!

I just went and sold some spinning gear and ordered a Lew's BB1 Pro. I haven't decided on a rod yet.

So the combo your talking about sold a newbie on the whole baitcast concept. For me it was well worth the money and will use it every trip next season. I like as a dedicated senko/worm set up.

Tommy,

Thanks for the info. I have the abu garcia black max and a couple other baitcasters, been using since I was around 12. I have no worries about using the bait caster, just cant really afford the expensive ones.Glad to hear you like the Lews, I have never had one and glad you are having great success with it. Look forward to purchasing one and putting it to use.

If I can ask what size line did you put on yours. I was thinking of 14 lb test mono. Just curious.

I myself love to throw the senko and I have no problem on the black max. Also love throwing a crank bait and chatterbaits. Dont think I will have any trouble at all with the Lews.

Thanks again for the input

I put 30 lb braid on my new Lew's combo and use a 20 lb floro leader. I'm debating on putting just floro on the BB1 I plan on using the new one for cranks and top water so it would be nice to avoid using a leader altogether. I have about 5 months to make up my mind lol

Yeah I am hoping for a milder winter than last year. I plan to try and fish all year if at all possible. Last year we got more snow than I care to see again. I know nothing like you got in Jersey.

Good luck and keep me posted if you dont mind on the new BB1.

Good fishing
