I just picked up a TFO Gary Loomis Tactical Spinning Rod 7'3" Medium Fast for a price that I could not turn down. I was thinking I would throw the small Keitech swimbaits with it, but was told I might loose a lot of fish on the hookset and have issues with line breaking since you use lighter line on spinning rods and might even break the rod.

With that said what would be a good use for this rod?

Other rods:

*** *** Black 2 Spin Rod 6'10" Med Lt xf - Dropshots and Ned rig
*** *** Black 2 Spin Rod 7'1" Med f - Weightless wacky rigged senkos
St Croix Triumph casting 7' MH - Texas rigged soft plastics.

Seems to me as long as you're using light-wire hooks, you shouldn't be more likelty to lose fish on hooksets. and as long as you're checking your line regularly for damage (which you should always do anyway), and retying if necessary, I don't see why you'd have a problem with line breaking. An MF spinning combo with 6 or 8lb trilene is what I use for small keitechs (3"-4") on jigheads and underspins, and I don't have those kinds of issues. Stay within the lure-weight ratings for the rod, and it should work great.

A long M/F spinning rod sounds like the exact rod you would want for throwing small Keitechs on a light jighead.

Also, what makes a spinning rod "tactical."  lol

I wouldn't say that. He helps a lot of people on this site. He said the same thing about using light wire hooks. He just said there were better rods to use to throw the keitechs.

Well, maybe he'll show up and explain.

I know for a fact there are many, many better rods than what I use for this...but I don't have those rods, and yet, the one I do have seems to work.

If you are setting the hook hard enough to break that rod with a small plastic swimbait, you are doing something seriously wrong or the blank is compromised.

I agree with jrob.

I use a ML rod for throwing 3-4 inch swim baits on 1/8-1/4 oz jig heads. I use what I consider to be fairly heavy hooks on the jigs and I don't loose very many once I get them hooked (I use 10 lb braid to a 10 lb mono leader). I don't see you having any issues what so ever throwing them on the rod you listed. I think as long as you stay in the recommended line and lure ratings of the rod you should be just fine.

If you're snapping a M/F rod with 6 lb line on a hookset.....you're doing it wrong!! Although I don't have any experience with that line of rods, I would think you'd be just fine using it for that. Give it a whirl and figure out if you like it or not.
