If the rod is balanced prior to the reel being attached then it shouldn't matter really.

Can't go wrong with any of the Lews line they make some nice reels, I own Gl3s Gl2s and GLX rods and have all lews on them ,very nice combos ....

Any baitcasting reel that weighs about 2X the rod weight will be balanced; 4 oz rod with 8 oz reel for example.

There are a lot of $200 reels that sell for under $150.

I don't think I have ever handled or built a rod that was balanced before I put a reel on it. I would imagine the grip would have to weight quite a bit to accomplish this.

Evan, I haven't either at least not at the reel seat.  I balance my rods at the trigger beforehand and it doesn't matter what reel I put on the rod.  Of course, I hold the rod where the trigger splits my ring finger and middle finger.

I have three different 843C rods - CBR, GLX and IMX.  I don't have the E6 in that model, though the 843's I do own, I've got Curado B, Curado E and Chronarch E series reels.  All of which seem to work/balance just fine.
