Vlad Val Yevdash Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Hey guys I'm getting an e6x mag bass casting rod 843c MBR, and I want a good reel that will last and balance the rod $150 budget. Quote

Delaware Valley Tackle Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 No one can answer this but you. It depends on how you grip the rod, technique and the feel you prefer. Find a reel that feels good to you and check back for feedback prior to purchase. 2 Quote

Vlad Val Yevdash Posted November 10, 2015 Author Posted November 10, 2015 I have a curado I on mine. Same Rod. what model do you have on it Quote
UKCATSBASSER Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 The 200 6 speed model. Spooked with 14 pound test. I use it for spinnerbaits, swim jigs, chatter baits, and keitechs. Quote
UKCATSBASSER Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 ** spooled. Stupid auto correct 1 Quote
cottny27 Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 If the rod is balanced prior to the reel being attached then it shouldn't matter really. Quote
carlm01 Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Can't go wrong with any of the Lews line they make some nice reels, I own Gl3s Gl2s and GLX rods and have all lews on them ,very nice combos .... Quote

Super User WRB Posted November 10, 2015 Super User Posted November 10, 2015 Any baitcasting reel that weighs about 2X the rod weight will be balanced; 4 oz rod with 8 oz reel for example. There are a lot of $200 reels that sell for under $150. Tom Quote
EvanT123 Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 If the rod is balanced prior to the reel being attached then it shouldn't matter really. I don't think I have ever handled or built a rod that was balanced before I put a reel on it. I would imagine the grip would have to weight quite a bit to accomplish this. 1 Quote
cottny27 Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Evan, I haven't either at least not at the reel seat. I balance my rods at the trigger beforehand and it doesn't matter what reel I put on the rod. Of course, I hold the rod where the trigger splits my ring finger and middle finger. Quote
bunkerbstr Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 I have three different 843C rods - CBR, GLX and IMX. I don't have the E6 in that model, though the 843's I do own, I've got Curado B, Curado E and Chronarch E series reels. All of which seem to work/balance just fine. Quote
