Carterjig68 Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I received a Quantum 1310 reel for free in perfect condition. It's pretty old and different from the chronarchs and curados I'm used to but do you guys think it would work as a filler reel? If you don't know what I'm talking about it looks like a mix of a round and low profile reel both a casting button on the side. Quote

I had buddies who swore by them, and while they aren't a new Tatula or whatever is the soup of the day around here, they're still a nice reel. You'll certainly miss the thumb bar and instant anti-reverse, but you'll get used to it. Quote
Tmmytomato Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Those were pretty good reels and very durable too. I see no reason why you couldn't get a few years out of it although you will get some handle backslap when setting the hook. But that's what we had on all reels at the time. Quote
WPCfishing Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Polish it and put it on a mantle. 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted November 10, 2015 Super User Posted November 10, 2015 They are good reels I own three . The only problem I have with them is I used them with heavy 1 oz weights and made long cast . It burnt the plate off the magnets . So dont use large weights and make long cast . Quote
Big C Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 I would use it if you don't like it shelf it. I had an old Abu Garcia that was given to me by my Grandpa, it worked really well for a while, those old guys die hard...the reel I mean. Quote
Josh Smith Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Dad's second baitcasting reel was a 1310. It's what let me inherit his Ambassadeur 5000! I fixed one up for my wife and she's learning the baitcaster with it. It's the hardest to backlash I've seen in quite a while. I'm backing off the brakes as she gets better. Yes, it's still a very usable reel. The gear ratio is 5:1 or so, so consider that when you choose techniques for it. Regards, Josh Quote
