BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted November 8, 2015 BassResource.com Administrator Posted November 8, 2015 Hey guys, stick to answering the OP's question. The mind-numbing banter about other brands is annoying and pointless, and has nothing to do with his question. 1 Quote
Josh Smith Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Not all Quantum is made in China. The Smoke for example is made in Korea. What others? This could be good info. Regards, Josh Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted November 8, 2015 Super User Posted November 8, 2015 Back in the day.. Orlando Wilson was sponsored by Quantum. I bought one.. It had a lifetime warranty, I returned my form & recieved a credit card for warranty. I used that reel hard in Florida. Never, ever had a single issue out of it. It was a graphite framed reel too. It was made in Korea as well. Quantum markets a decent product, you just have to sort thru the marketing..good luck Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted November 9, 2015 Super User Posted November 9, 2015 whats the model number of that reel? thanks Chad Chad it's TKVDC150PPT A-Jay Quote
Dye99 Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 What is the best Quantum reel on the market? For me, I really like the KVD tour and the energy. I've got a smoke as well, but I found the other two to work better for what I do.And for the record, I've got Diawa, Lews, Quantum and Shimano sitting in my living room drying out from a kayak fishing run today and all of them caught fish. MasonV Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 What others? This could be good info. Regards, Josh I'm not really sure what others, I just know the Smoke because I have 6 of them. The only other Quantum I've used is the Accurist, which I didn't like and it's made in China. Maybe one of the people that have an EXO can tell us where they're made. I'm betting most of their higher end reels are made in Korea. Quote
WdyCrankbait Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 My EXO has "Made in China," stamped on the under side of the reel foot. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted November 9, 2015 Super User Posted November 9, 2015 I have two Smokes (and a Smoke spinning.) I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Search around, though. I got both of mine for less than $100 each. They blow away $100 reels from any other company that I've used. I know that's apples to oranges since Smokes are essentially $200 reels. But I want to be part of the argument here and so I throw 'fair and balanced' out the window and make my proclamation. I love my Smokes. 1 Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted November 9, 2015 Super User Posted November 9, 2015 I like my Abu Garcia Premier, Lews Tournament Pro, and I really like the Pflueger reels but I have a Smoke 150 and that reel is fantastic!! I don't have too many brand prefrences, I keep and open mind and I won't bash without trying for myself. The Smoke 100 is a very good reel but the 150 is just better in my opinion but I have the first generation Smoke so I can't help with the new model but if you find new a new "old stock" 150 I'd grab it, I really like mine. Super User bowhunter63 Posted November 9, 2015 Super User Posted November 9, 2015 I miss my old 381 crankin reel.It was a good one for sure. Quote
k3bass Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Quantam? would you like the email address of the factory in china that makes them and the bass pro shop reels? they also sell the exact same reel for $30 if you have a smoke. I'd like to hear more about this identical smoke reel for 30 bucks. Quote
