MDBowHunter Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 I just picked up a Daiwa Lexa 300 for my swim bait rod and it has the power handle on it. My question is can I just remove the knob and weight on the handle, and put regular knobs on the handle. Or do I need to buy a whole new handle with knobs? Thanks in advance for the help. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted November 1, 2015 Super User Posted November 1, 2015 Yes, you can remove the knobs. Remove the knob caps on the out most portion of the knob /w a small screwdriver or anyting small to dip in that gap and pull them out and there will be a screw underneath the cap generally the same size as the frame screws. They may be tight so go slow and don't strip them. Watch for any spacers that may or may not be in there as they serve the purpose to remove handle play. They are generally under the bottom bearing on the underside of the knob so when you pull the knob off, do it over a cloth. Sometimes they are stock to the bottom of the knob shaft though so they can just stay put. knobs will pull right off. and just put the new ones on there. I don't know how large the knob length is on the 300 lexa but you may or may not need a different length screw for the knobs but I doubt it. 1 Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted November 1, 2015 Super User Posted November 1, 2015 I'd just buy a new handle myself. But then Diawa is only about 15min from my house. That way if I choose to sell the reel at a different time I could offer both handles with it to whomever wanted to buy it. 1 Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted November 2, 2015 Super User Posted November 2, 2015 I'm not sure about the 300 power handles. That one might be a little different. The regular Lexa you can remove the knobs. From Daiwa a complete handle assembly would be about $20 1 Quote
