Is it too cold for them to bite or just too cold to mess with it ? Really not trying to be a smart a$$ here but I'm in central Florida and while the chamber of commerce and tourist officials won't admit to it, it gets colder than that on occasion down here. Not very often mind you but it does happen. Some of my best catches have been when the temperature was in the twenties, my line guides and level wind were icing up and I looked like the Michellin Man I had so many clothes on ! I just don't find it very enjoyable to fish in air temps in the 20's. Caught my last Largie of 2014 on Dec. 27th and my first of 2015 on Jan. 1st, in PA. Good air temps, cold water. Brian. Quote

Don't get me wrong, I like some cool weather but fishing thru the ice ? I'll stick with the bug spray and fish at night during the hot summers, then enjoy our "winters" down here ! Carry on !
