Super User bigbill Posted October 29, 2015 Super User Posted October 29, 2015 Know the new list price of what your looking for. Some sellers don't know the exact value of there fishing equipment. Some tend to over price it. Example I was just browsing for a reel. The seller says $39. I found a brand new one for $29. The savings is above the dollar menu and beyond a happy, happy meal. Before you buy online check the present list prices. It's just a search that can save you $$$. Watch out for the auction sights. Quote
Starchalopakis Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 In this digital life we now live in , there is no reason to not be doing your HW and checking comparable prices. Kind of goes without saying doesn't it? 7 Quote

Super User Jrob78 Posted October 29, 2015 Super User Posted October 29, 2015 So what you're saying is I should buy the item with the lower price? Interesting concept. 9 Quote
John G Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 They are not "overpricing" it because they don't know the value, they are "overpricing" it to make more money. 1 Quote
poisonokie Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 What gets me is seeing a $150 reel readily available on the same site for $99 being priced by someone else at $350. Surely no one is THAT idiotic... Quote

poisonokie Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Maybe I should put everything I own (and some things I don't) up for sale at some ridiculously inflated price... Quote

JustinU1X Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I usually look on TW to see the retail price. Plus they usually have the lowest price. Then I head to a place like Amazon to get the really good deals. There's lots of resources online. You should always check for deals before pulling the trigger on something. Quote

Sure, it seems super obvious to 99% of us, but that doesn't mean we have to be mocking. Your comment does not come across as friendly banter. Quote

If you want to be mean that's ok too. Maybe you pushed the "buy it now" button before checking out other deals. Now your pennies short for a happy meal. Save $$ eat better. Super User bigbill Posted October 30, 2015 Author Super User Posted October 30, 2015 Ask Bill instead of making snide comments. I used a cheaper spinning reel as a example. Not a top shelf reel but it works. I gave the family diawa spinning reels on nice bass rods for Christmas. They were used by the family a lot. My family could care less about cost as long as they can fish with it. This Christmas I'm thinking about a spinnerbait setup and a pre made c-rig Setup with senkos/bizzbaits/brushogs. I want to take them to the next level. Shopping smart allows me to help them. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted October 30, 2015 Author Super User Posted October 30, 2015 i notice that on Amazon Amazon had rattle traps for $14 when TW had them for around $6. I purchased five. No eating at McDonald's that day I ate at a mom n pops local greasy spoon. I saved big-time. Lol Quote
