Know the new list price of what your looking for. Some sellers don't know the exact value of there fishing equipment. Some tend to over price it. Example I was just browsing for a reel. The seller says $39. I found a brand new one for $29. The savings is above the dollar menu and beyond a happy, happy meal. Before you buy online check the present list prices. It's just a search that can save you $$$. Watch out for the auction sights.

In this digital life we now live in , there is no reason to not be doing your HW and checking comparable prices. Kind of goes without saying doesn't it?

They are not "overpricing" it because they don't know the value, they are "overpricing" it to make more money.

What gets me is seeing a $150 reel readily available on the same site for $99 being priced by someone else at $350. Surely no one is THAT idiotic...

Maybe I should put everything I own (and some things I don't) up for sale at some ridiculously inflated price...

So what you're saying is I should buy the item with the lower price? Interesting concept.

I saw his post earlier before anyone commented on it. I think Bill might be sippin' the hooch.

Bill, Don't worry about it.. You won't remember where the awesome reel is in a few days.. Then you'll forget you even own it. But, you got a good deal buddy.

I usually look on TW to see the retail price. Plus they usually have the lowest price. Then I head to a place like Amazon to get the really good deals.

There's lots of resources online. You should always check for deals before pulling the trigger on something.

I don't remember how much it cost, but I used my little green Shakespear combo for good 10 years without maintenance.

Keitech changed the MSRP on their Swing Impact Fats; example3.8" from $7.49 to $5.99 a pack back in July but many places still charging $7.49

A member here clued me in to a few clearance rods at the St Croix website, $89 there and free shipping, same rod at other sites $150, plus shipping, plus extra shipping for bulk item..................Yes it pays to shop around before pulling the trigger.

A little mean, what? Perhaps not all of us have a ton of experience shopping online? Or become a bit forgetful of fishing tackle when going through tough times? Sure, it seems super obvious to 99% of us, but that doesn't mean we have to be mocking.

Your comment does not come across as friendly banter.

It's just a reminder to shop around and know the list prices

There are some great deals out there. Shop smart.

If you want to be mean that's ok too. Maybe you pushed the "buy it now" button before checking out other deals. Now your pennies short for a happy meal. Save $$ eat better.

Sometimes we need a memory jogger. A refresh.

Ask Bill instead of making snide comments.

I used a cheaper spinning reel as a example. Not a top shelf reel but it works.

I gave the family diawa spinning reels on nice bass rods for Christmas. They were used by the family a lot. My family could care less about cost as long as they can fish with it.

This Christmas I'm thinking about a spinnerbait setup and a pre made c-rig Setup with senkos/bizzbaits/brushogs. I want to take them to the next level.

Shopping smart allows me to help them.

Amazon had rattle traps for $14 when TW had them for around $6. I purchased five.

No eating at McDonald's that day I ate at a mom n pops local greasy spoon. I saved big-time. Lol

I'm a Rat l Trap fan too.. My recent favorites are the Nova colors.. Did you pay the price in the morning after eating the greasy stuff?

Scrambled eggs with sausage, toast, coffee.

The more we save the more we can buy.
