I'm taking my friend (who doesn't fish much) saltwater fishing this weekend. The area we are going to has a good abundance of keeper size flounder. While setting up my gear, i had an idea. Bucktail jigs are supposed to be good for flounder right? Well, what if i put a gulp shrimp (3" New Penny) on that bucktail jig? Is this a good idea?

For Specks, Red, & Flounder we use Gulp on a plain jig head, so I guess a bucktail would work.

Try it the worse thing that could happen is you get skunked.

Down in my neck of the woods I've been having good luck with Vudu Shrimp with a dose of Pro Cure Inshore on them. The weather has been hit and miss the last couple of weeks but when I can get on the water to do some inshore fishing that's been my go to set up. I've been using the 5" shrimp, our bays are full of bigger shrimp right now.

Yes, it works...really really well.

Lol thought it would. I've heard flounder love bucktails, i've also always heard you should tip it with shrimp, well, how about tipping it with Gulp shrimp :P

It works really well. Also look at the gulp swimming mullet. This year in Delaware a 1 oz ultra minnow (spro knock off) with a four inch swimming mullet. White bucktail with pink or red gulp got me over 40 keeper flounder up to 25". If your fishing from a boat. Keep it as vertical as possible and jig rapidly.

Basically Google john skinner fluke bucktail fishing. Watch his videos.
