chasescott Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 i am somewhat new to pouring my own jigs. I am currently making a weedless football head jig and i am having mixed results. I know the powder painting takes practice and i am getting much better. My biggest problem though is the weedguard. If i mold the weedguard into the jig it looks good but once i put it in the oven to bake they tend to melt and spread out. If i use a nail to make a hole and glue them in later they really dont look good. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted January 27, 2010 Super User Posted January 27, 2010 If it is the mold that uses fg12 I use house romex 12g when I pour. After I paint and bake them I drill out the holes and put a dab of superglue gel in the holes. I have no problem with them. I have tried a bunch of ways to cover the weedguard and then bake the heads. None of them have worked. Quote
cadman Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I totally agree with JIG Man. I have tried all kind of variations as well in the past. If you want excellent looking painted jigs, with straight weedguards, glue them in after the jigs are painted and baked. Quote
chasescott Posted January 27, 2010 Author Posted January 27, 2010 Thanks for the info! I need to try drilling the holes out a little after the baking process. I think that will help alot. Quote
