I seen Ike rate a backbone (%) vs the tip (%) finally.

I understand this with hooksets. Like a 60% / 40%. How high up the backbone goes. (Power) It's good to see the rods evolving.

Rods aren't evolving as much as you are behind the times. You're getting closer to getting this action/power thing figured out though.

I believe a 60/40 rod like you're describing meaning under a load the rod will start to bend at 60 percent of the rods over all length from the bOttoman of the handle. This would probably be a moderate to moderate fast action or taper. A 70/30 would be closer to a fast action. 80/20 would be extra fast. In my opinion rods and reels are evolving for sure. Maybe more so in design and materials
