Super User bigbill Posted October 29, 2015 Super User Posted October 29, 2015 I seen Ike rate a backbone (%) vs the tip (%) finally. I understand this with hooksets. Like a 60% / 40%. How high up the backbone goes. (Power) It's good to see the rods evolving. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted October 29, 2015 Super User Posted October 29, 2015 Rods aren't evolving as much as you are behind the times. You're getting closer to getting this action/power thing figured out though. 4 Quote
clh121787 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I believe a 60/40 rod like you're describing meaning under a load the rod will start to bend at 60 percent of the rods over all length from the bOttoman of the handle. This would probably be a moderate to moderate fast action or taper. A 70/30 would be closer to a fast action. 80/20 would be extra fast. In my opinion rods and reels are evolving for sure. Maybe more so in design and materials 1 Quote
