Just got the new 2016 Legend Elites and I searched all over Google to find a review on these before I bought it but to no avail. So I decided to start a topic on it to see how it is and maybe a few of you guys might appreciate it.

I just unwrapped it and one thing I notice about this 7ft MF is that it's super super light and thin. To be honest I feel like I can snap it in half and wonder how it'll hold up a fish. Another thing are the new torzite guides. They are extremely small and thin. Read micro. These are the next rings from Fuji that are supposed to be smoother, stronger, and lighter (35%) than previous sic guides. It looks like it can handle braid well.

The stick balances very well with my reel and and does not seem to be too tip heavy this time. Also if you're wondering this blank now completely matches the legend extremes and from what St Croix has told me, surpasses the current legend extremes because of the new guides, until the next generation extremes come out. That is why I decided to go with these.

Anyways next week I will be able to test this thing out in the water and report on the sensitivity. Currently takclewarehouse sent me a defective reel so I have a rod with no reel. I have to wait till I send it back to them and get it back. I'm still wondering if I should just go to cabelas and pick up a new lews reel because I'm dying to trying this rod out.

Anyways tight lines and I'll keep you guys posted. If anyone else has the same 2016 rod feel free to chime in.

I have made many rods on the old Legend blanks, 7 foot , medium fast.  I have every confidence that you  will find that rod your favorite rod for the right techniques.  If that blank is similar to mine, it will be on the high side of medium power, fast action (CCS data), and very capable of handling just about any fish.  The new ones with nano tech should be tougher than the old, and mine are not at all fragile.

I was just shocked how thin it was for a medium. To be honest for it not to snap into two pieces, requires some sort of faith.

Well? Did you test it? Let's hear the review, and don't skimp on the details!

My priorities have been directed elsewhere for awhile but I cannot wait to get myself one of these new Elites.  Hopefully I'll have one by May.  I have not owned anything above the Avid yet and don't like the idea of spending $400+ on a rod but I'm going to do it once, maybe twice this year.

The new Legend Elite is actually on my radar too. I like the components and such even if the looks are rather plain.

I was only to use mine twice but out of those two times I couldn't put it down. It's crisp and light and balances pretty well. It balances/feels well with a Curado and a Metanium however to me it didn't balance/feel that great with a Chronarch CI4.

So far overall I've been really impressed with it. I may possibly get another before or beginning of the season. I just really wish St. Croix would have made a 7'3-7'4 MH Legend Elite.

I recently picked up a New Legend Elite 6'8" MXF casting rod on an impulse. I have not had a chance to fish it yet. I prefer using Fat Ikas and 6 inch senkos on casting gear, but wanted a little more sensitivity in the rod.  This is the first sub-7 foot casting rod I've owned.  Compared to my 7' MF Avid X, the 6'8" Legend Elite does seem dainty.  However, my personal best was caught on a 6'8" MXF LTB spinning rod, so I have no doubts of the strength of the Legend Elite.  Holy cow is it light though.  I've fighting the urge to re-acquire an Aldebaran 50 to have a sub 9oz combo.

I'm curious if any of you guys also fish a Loomis MBR 843 GLX? If so can you compare the 2?

I have the Loomis and it also seems very light. I bought it for bottom contact presentation's in moderate cover but a little hesitant too. It is by far the most sensitive rod I've ever owned. I was thinking about getting 844 GLX or the Legend Elite.

Thanks

I picked up a new ES76 MLXF to use with hair jigs for smallies. I was also surprised by the lightness of the blank & the overall quality finish for a production rod. I only got to use it once before the end of season. St Croix really improved the elite line with this new update.

I'm not a fan of the new reel seat on the spinning rods. I was waiting to pick up one of the older models on clearance but never saw them on sale anywhere online.

I heard they had a lot of the previous models on St Croixs website in the "bargain room." All I saw left was 2pcs. I'm personally a fan of exposed blank where I hold it. Idk why, but I like having a finger or 2 on it.

I hate the seats on the LX.  The new seats on the LE intrigue me.  I have one I'm going to use on a RodGeeks to test them out.  They feel nice and the exposed blank is never a bad thing.

I don't think they ever had the one piece rods in the bargain room. Every time I checked they were all 2 piece. Tw never had them on sale either, they were just gone.

That's weird. And a bummer, the 2pcs were an amazing sale. Like....cheaper than a tournament bass.

I love the seats on the previous model legend elite spinning rods. I'm a huge fan of the 7'6" medium fast le spinning rods. I really wish St.Croix would make a 7'6" medium avid spinning rod!

I don't remember what seat was on the prior LE models.

I know! I saw them and was ready to order 3 of them, then I saw the 2 at the end of all the model numbers and was really bummed.
