Lots of salt in these baits, takes a while in the water before some of it disolves and they begin to float.   You can speed the process if you stretch the bait a few times before rigging it.

As the salt dissolves they start to float. Stretch them a few times then soak them in water for a hour and the salt will dissolve and they'll float.

Unfortunately its too dark for me to see it in the lake tonight. I was just trying to get an idea of what it looked like.

Haha, yeah, I'm just saying, don't be so sure they aren't working right....A TRD will get attacked right out of the bag on the way down, before it even gets a chance to stand up!

Has anybody used an *** 6'10" ML XF for the ned rig? That's what I am going to try it on. The rod actually seems a little stiff for this application. Kind of feels like a medium.

Yes? I guess? I understand you want to optimize, but I tend to think a lot of people wring their hands unnecessarily about exact, narrowly-perfect gear for particular applications, and at some point you just reach diminishing returns that aren't worth the splitting hairs over. I use a Ned rig on two spinning combos, an ML/F and an M/mod-F with no issues, and don't really notice the difference.  Anything you might use for a drop shot or shakey head ought to do the job. Just tie it on and catch some bass.

^^This^^ ...ZMan ZinkerZ Stick Worm has less salt than the TRD ... Stretch it a few times , cut in half , rig as you would a TRD and your good to go OR just fish the TRD - the more it is in contact with water - the more salt leeches out and the more it will float .

After reading the replies The Ned rig should be renamed Pin head rig.

I keep an old water bottle on my boat and soak Ned rigs in it (or other zman plastics). I also stretch it out under water about 6-7 times before soaking. If I loose one in the rocks I take one out of the water bottle and I'm ready to go. Been working pretty good for me so far.

Fixed it for ya!

Thanks, Tom. I thought I may have been a few thousand times off...

"Put my Ned Rig together today and put it in the bath tub. Mine does NOT stand up at all. Just falls over on its side and gets drug. Any ideas? Zman mushroom head with TRD finesse bait."  - Glad we are discussing the NED rig.

...and it's cheaper to buy the ZinkerZs and cut them in half!  Win-win!  :-)

I've had zman worms that said "floating " on the pack and don't float. I hate the material that they are made of. Bass pro makes a floating worm that floats and the material is much better too.

I wonder if they should just come out with a formula MEANT to float properly? as in no need to soak stretch etc. rite outta the bad instant float.

-Joshua

Soaking and stretching doesn't work on the big worms anyway. A week of soaking a stretched worm only produced a bubble covered worm for me.

This was the goal:

Are you using the regular shroomz heads or the finesse shroom heads? Also what weight?
