So Im putting my boat away in storage today. Removed the batteries and noticed some god awful nasty crud from water and dirt and whatever that was by the drain. Does anybody pour stuff down the boats center drain hole to clean the bilge area? This is my first boat and first time for everything that comes with it. Can anybody recommend a cleaner?  Thanks-Lee

I would be careful trying something like that, other than just water to flush it.  If you use some kind of cleaner or chemical, it could be corrosive to the aluminum over the long term, especially in a area that tends to stay wet or damp anyway.  Definitely don't put anything with chlorine in it.
