Kbral87 Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 Well I'm officially sold on the strike king rage craws, I have no real experience using soft plastics but I really have been eager to learn. My buddy and I decided to go on a quick fishing trip and I figured I'd dedicate todays trip to trying to figure it out. Started out with the baby brush hog (green pumpkin , blue flake T-rigged) and gave that a shot for a out an hour and a half with no luck. I decided to switch out to the rage craw (green pumpkin T-rigged), and after my 3rd cast I got a strike. No slight tap or thump, the bass hit it hard, I set the hook and landed the fish. 2 lbs, not abig fish by any means but still a fish. Let him back in the water and casted again, gave my reel one full crank before I felt it again, set the hook and landed another fish. About the same size, to make a long story short I ended up with 8 fish of similar size, and lost 4 while trying to set the hook. Needless to say I am very satisfied with how today worked out, not too shabby for a guy that has never really fished soft plastics. I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to share their knowledge on this site. It really has broadened my skills. 7 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 25, 2015 Global Moderator Posted October 25, 2015 Can't go wrong with the Rage Craws. Next you'll be wanting to try the Space Monkey or Rage Bug, and neither of those will disappoint you either. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 25, 2015 Super User Posted October 25, 2015 This fall the Smokin' Rooster has been hot for me, too! 1 Quote

Super User Senko lover Posted October 25, 2015 Super User Posted October 25, 2015 Rage craws are far and away my favorite soft plastics (subject to change, but they've been a huge producer this year). FANTASTIC jig trailers, too. And yes, they've bumped the senko off the top of my list. That takes a lot 1 Quote

NEjitterbugger Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 CANNOT go wrong with Rage Tail, whether your fishing them weightlesss, texas rigged, rage rigged, drop shot, on the back of a jig (my favorite) you name it they will certainly produce! I've found rage rigging to be an effective way to fish soft plastics when the bite is slow but you don't wanna totally switch to a finesse application... A rage rigged smokin rooster is straight deadly, the fall makes me wanna jump in the water and grab onto it myself! Also experimented with drop shotting with the bug this year which turned out some great results! Keep at it! Quote
Logan S Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 The Rage Bug has become one of my favorite baits over the past 2 seasons...I've had one tied on a texas rig pretty much year round at every fishery I've been to. It's also good jig trailer, especially for skipping under docks with it's flat sides. I've been using it as a chatterbait trailer with success too. They get torn up easier than most other craws I've used, but it doesn't bother me too much since I use the ripped ones as trailers. I've never been big on the original Rage Craw and other Rage stuff for some reason, but the Rage Bug is definitely among my favorites now. It's accounted for good bit of tournament winnings since I started using them, that always makes me a believer . Quote

Weld's Largemouth Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Haven't become a believer in rage craw. Haven't caught a bass on a lone rage craw, only on the back of a jig. I stick with zoom creatures. Quote
Silas Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 While the Rage Rig on a Moaner Weighted hook has done well for me in the shallow La. Bayous, I find that tha Space Monkey rigged weightless has begun to take the place of my favorite : the Stanley Ribbit, as a frog substitute. Pull it over the lily pads and it catches fish! 1 Quote
