I just got a Metanium DC and have taken it out on two trips. amazing reel!

I pretty much only use Stradic Ci4+ 2500s for spinning now days. love those things

I've got a battle going on in my tackle room now, I have 3 shimanos and 3 daiwas and a couple of lews here and there.  I am still trying to settle down on a brand but I like giving new reels a try.  My favorite shimano reel is my Chronarch ci4+, it's so light and versatile I can pretty much cast anything with it.  I've also grown fond of the new TWS daiwas.  They cast a little differently with their different braking system but over all pretty solid reels.  If you're interested in JDM beware of the extra strength bait monkey that comes along with it. :)

Shimanos:

1 - Chronarch 150 ci4+ HG

1 - Chronarch 201e5 (love this on my crankbait rod)

1 - JDM Scorpion 1001 SVS 4x4 (oldie but goodie!)

Can't say I have a favorite Shimano, but everyone I own has a special place in my lineup.

For what it's worth, I own 20+ Shimano reels.

The Metanium xG is easily my favorite reel. Super smooth and solid. Another thing: you can't go wrong with shimano spinning reels. My brother has three: a Sedona, Sahara and a symetre. All are 2-5 years old and have been passed down from me to him and he has them and they all work like new.

First Shimano reel purchase was a Core 50Mg7 - and I will NEVER look back. By far, THE BEST baitcaster I've ever had.

I like Daiwa and Shimano about equally as well. For the longest I only used Daiwa but I got a good deal on a couple of citica 200d reels and loved them. I like buying used d and e series reels because they are easily found at great prices, and most are still close to new internally, even when the outside looks a little rough

If you ever want to try any of their new Gen reels or DC let me know. They are very impressive.

That's the best way to say it. "Best baitcaster I ever had". No one can dispute that. When you say, "best baitcaster ever made", that will be argued from now on. Good post!

I'll stick with my lews and daiwa for now. I've had nothing but issues with every shimano reel I've owned since they switched to the e series. Shimanos customer service went from the best to total crap. My curado d's and old chronarchs are awesome though.

I think I started at Chevy vs. Ford debate here.  As far as comfortable and compact in the hand I don't think anything compares to the Lews LFS series.  I don't have enough time in Lews to say much more.. I was just trying to stir the pot.  :eyebrows:

Ford all day i shall not buy new chevys since they bowed down to the fed and still have crappy vehicles .its like me borrowing from the fed so i can make you something and sell it at a ridiculous price with your own tax money. And still have some left over for cruises and 5 car mansions and not one is a GM vehicle

My favorite Shimanos are a Chronarch 100B and Curado 201E7.  Although I like my Curado 51Es, I'd rather grab a Daiwa if throwing lighter lures.  No experience with the new Shimanos or the JDM Shimanos.  Wouldn't mind giving them a try, tho.  :teeth:
