I am pretty curious about them....but I have a set of #2 Gamakatsu EWG's for this one. I need to pick up a set of the Mustads to compare....as they look VERY similar. Quote

BobP Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Jon, I really like it! It has a real jewel like quality to it. I can only imagine what the future will bring if this is a 'first effort'. Kudos! Quote
ToledoEF Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Whats it weigh? When are then available to the public? Quote
Stringjam Posted January 15, 2010 Author Posted January 15, 2010 Whats it weigh? When are then available to the public? I don't have a weight yet (yeah, I know). As far as available to the public - - as soon as I can find $20K laying around to buy a roto-duplicator...because there's no way I'd ever try to sell these things carving them by hand! ;D Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted January 15, 2010 Super User Posted January 15, 2010 That is hands down the cleanest home built crank I have ever seen. Amazing. Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted January 15, 2010 Super User Posted January 15, 2010 Wow is right. Ooooo man....I don't need another hobby! Quote
Stringjam Posted January 17, 2010 Author Posted January 17, 2010 I as able to test this bait out today. After some modification, I was very happy with the end result. Since the DT-16 is the standard of this class (IMO), I had it at hand to compare. They're about dead even on max casting distance, but the DT is a little more consistent in flight, mine will cartwheel at times, which hurts the distance. I'll have to figure that one out. They both dig hard and fast......I was killing the mid-teens with it (as does a DT). I think I was maxing out in the 18' range, which I was a little surprised at. It's right where I want it. A slightly larger model should easily be able to bust 20'. The action is tight and lively....a little snappier than the DT, and slightly more buoyant (although DT's seem to vary somewhat in this department). Mine has more tail movement. More experimenting to do! Quote

I'm a little more surprised of the tight and lively action than the depth I guess.I still can't get over the paint job, super job . Quote
bmadd Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Sounds sweet man! Definitely sounds like the kind of action I like. Were you able to test out any of your other baits? Quote
