We just got back from my oncologist. The previous cancer is good.... He's sending me for a colonoscopy. The radiologist found something in the TC scan. My doctor checked it as well, he seemed hopeful. Thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers. I truly appreciate it.

I believe I had my first sigmoidoscopy in my early fifties, and have since "graduated" to colonoscopies every few years.  Had a few polyps removed over the years which were precancerous.  It's something everyone should have.  It can save your life and prevent the need for more invasive surgeries and colostomy bags when cancers are allowed to grow undetected.

I asked my gastroenterologists how he chose this field of medicine peering up folks rectums.  He laughed and said that the gastro field was very rewarding because it is one of the few specialties that can successfully treat polyps before they develop into cancer.  By the time symptoms appear it's already too late in most cases to avoid the more drastic surgeries.

The procedure is a breeze, it's the prep and that darned magnesium citrate that is the worst part of the entire ordeal.  When you start on that stuff be sure you don't stray more than a few steps from the bathroom.

Thank the good Lord for fishing and family.  Helps to take the mind off these things temporarily.  Have had acute pancreatitis that was pretty serious and went to fish the Heartland final.  Ended up in ER....they wanted to keep me overnight but told them I had a big tourney this weekend and that I didn't feel any more pain in the guts.  Pancreas got upset over a meal...real upset.  (couldn't prefish one day) Doc made me promise to contact my doc and I did.  Thing is ...(for me) it's in Gods hands as the pancreas really doesn't heal and the doc says mine looks like hamburger.  Sooooo I just go day to day and try to not tick it off by eating something bad.  Also try to stay busy so I don't think to much!!

Good luck to ya
