PAGreg Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 I'm heading south to attempt to prolong my fishing season another week for the first week of November. So, heading to WV from northern PA to try Stonewall Jackson. I'll be staying at the resort and taking my own boat. Looking at the lake map, it appears there's a whole lot of no wake zone to the south of the resort with open running to the north. Could someone give me a clue as to which would be my better choice? I'm liking the looks of the shallow water and standing timber to the south. I have a jet boat, so I'm not overly concerned with submerged timber hazards. I enjoy not worrying about prop damage. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted October 20, 2015 Super User Posted October 20, 2015 Its all good really and both directions have significant no wake zones. Most boaters head north towards dam and around towards other branch of the lake. Quote
PAGreg Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 Thanks for the reply. In looking at the map further, I'm thinking about trailering to the Vandalia launch and running up to Wolf Fork. Looks like good water and I can run there on pad. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted October 21, 2015 Super User Posted October 21, 2015 That lake is very deep and can be overwhelming the first few trips. So be prepared for it. Quote
PAGreg Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 Really? Everything I've read says an average depth of 15'-19' with a maximum of 80-something. Most of the finger lakes in new york that I fish on a regular basis are deeper than that, most eclipsing the 100' mark. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted October 23, 2015 Super User Posted October 23, 2015 Its really not that deep unless you are sitting overtop the old river. Quote
