Missourifishin Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Water temps will be dropping of course, as we move deeper into fall. How do you change your approach, specifically in regards to the type of lures you tie on at the beginning of your day of fishing? Also, this will be my first season giving A-rigs a try, at what point do you guys break those out? Thanks. Quote

Super User everythingthatswims Posted October 18, 2015 Super User Posted October 18, 2015 Baits with trebles on them work a lot better for me when the water starts to cool. I throw a lot of squarebills, jerkbaits, and lipless crankbaits. Medium depth cranks have their time too for me in the fall. Spinnerbaits and chatterbaits come into play too more so than in the summer...Chatterbait for me is just a replacement for a spinnerbait when visibility is poor, I haven't figured it out beyond that. I have no idea about the magic rig. I caught a couple stripers on one last November, that's it! Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted October 18, 2015 Super User Posted October 18, 2015 I'm like Catt in that I simply change locations more than anything else. I do find myself fishing a jig more. I like the versatility. I also throw a lipless crankbait some. For whatever reason I don't throw this bait much but It seems In the Fall I do well with throwing extremely shallow. Fall Is one of my favorite times to fish. The deer hunters are off the water and there are days where you see maybe 5 trailers in the parking lot. Also, and as much as I detest cooler/cold weather, there Is something to be said about dressing warm for the mornings and ending up in shorts and a long sleeve t-shirt in the afternoon. Quote
