Super User retiredbosn Posted October 17, 2015 Super User Posted October 17, 2015 I've been out of the motorcycle scene a few years now, and I've missed it dearly. I'm happy to report my health has recovered enough to get back in the saddle. I've located the first bike I ever owned and getting it back. Nothing real special, a.1998 Honda ACE Tourer. Best of all my buddy who owns a car dealership took a Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 1500 in on trade, I picked it up at wholesale. The plan is to take the Vulcan and build a long distance touring bike. I'm going to convert the fenders over to an Indian Super Chief (thinking of stretching the rear fender), put Harley style tour package with stretched saddle bags on it, go to a single seat, and put a batwing fairing up front with an old light bar. To finish it off, I'm removing the straight pipes, putting bagger style dual exhaust with fish tails. I'll post what it looks like now and update the progress. But I'm restoring a '84/250wr, '78/ 390cr, a '82 430cr, a '84 / 430wr, I been hoping to add a 500cr. I have most of the parts. Quote

He had 8 fully restored some with side cars, some with suicide shift, he even had a bike that was a prototype, serial number 1. When he retired he sold his collection, he lived very comfortably until he passed. Quote

The grandson of the founder of Indian motorcycles was very involved in its design and production. Originally they were to be named "Super Chief",they later settled on Drifter. The bikes were so successful that the Indian bikes were reintroduced and can still be bought. So converting the Vulcan isn't that hard as the bikes shared many parts. Quote

I never pursued it the way I should of. From then on I jump on every lead when someone says they want to get rid of a bike. Quote
