I've been out of the motorcycle scene a few years now, and I've missed it dearly. I'm happy to report my health has recovered enough to get back in the saddle. I've located the first bike I ever owned and getting it back. Nothing real special, a.1998 Honda ACE Tourer. Best of all my buddy who owns a car dealership took a Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 1500 in on trade, I picked it up at wholesale.

The plan is to take the Vulcan and build a long distance touring bike. I'm going to convert the fenders over to an Indian Super Chief (thinking of stretching the rear fender), put Harley style tour package with stretched saddle bags on it, go to a single seat, and put a batwing fairing up front with an old light bar. To finish it off, I'm removing the straight pipes, putting bagger style dual exhaust with fish tails. I'll post what it looks like now and update the progress. Can't wait to be cruising again.

Great news on your health and reigniting one of your passions. Sounds like you have a cool build mapped out, definitely show picks when you can.

Good move.

I sold off my vintage, post vintage 25 restored husqvarna dirt bike collection. But I'm restoring a '84/250wr, '78/ 390cr, a '82 430cr, a '84 / 430wr, I been hoping to add a 500cr. I have most of the parts.

Those old huskies never die, awesome ditt bikes.

I had a friend who was into the old Indian bikes. He had 8 fully restored some with side cars, some with suicide shift, he even had a bike that was a prototype, serial number 1. When he retired he sold his collection, he lived very comfortably until he passed.

You have got me intrigued. I wanna see pictures. I'm hunting for a 40s model Knucklehead Harley to restore for my grandmom.

Fyi Kawasaki made an Indian tribute bike from 1998-2005. Nice looking bikes. The grandson of the founder of Indian motorcycles was very involved in its design and production. Originally they were to be named "Super Chief",they later settled on Drifter. The bikes were so successful that the Indian bikes were reintroduced and can still be bought. So converting the Vulcan isn't that hard as the bikes shared many parts.

Indian Motorcycles are back, sales are up. I like the old Indian inline four cylinder and the Harley knucklehead.

I just purchased the correct frame for a husqvarna 390 OR.

Restorations and builds are fun.

Watching an 84 Grandmother jump 11 flaming school buses wearing an Evil Knievel jumpsuit, is not something I want to see...I think. ;)

My godfathers brother in law had a original Harley with a side car. I told them I was interested. I never pursued it the way I should of.

From then on I jump on every lead when someone says they want to get rid of a bike.
