Is there a reason most larger buzz baits and spinners don't have circles to tie knots to, and only have half circles?   They're driving me nuts b/c my braid slides all over them and gets tangled every third cast.

Is there a good knot that will prevent that? even if I tie knots on top of knots I can't keep braid from sliding all the way up and down them.  >_<

You can wrap some line around the open wire end to make it a closed eye, tie a knot or super glue the knot so it doesn't move. The open end bend is easier to manufacturer and allows more wire vibration than a closed eye design.

I wish every spinnerbait and Buzzbait had closed eyes.

You can take some small diameter heat shrink tubing and slide over the half circle and then heat and shrink.  This will cover that up and keep your bait from sliding. BUT it may also pick up a little more grass and such on the spinnerbait.

also, what kind of knot are you tying?  if i cinch down a palomar knot pretty good, it's not going anywhere.

like buzzed bait said tying a palomar knot works really well. personally I have only had it slide up once in probably 200 casts

I dont use braid so dont have that problem. I prefer that type of tie over the full loop . I wonder if small rubber o-rings would slide over the line tie and stay in place .

Used to drive me nuts. Since switching to the palomar knot it never really happens anymore. Never realized it, but that comment about buzzed baits must make.  As this is the only difference I made and I have no issue anymore.

Yep. Use the Palomar knott as suggested. Overhand the loop end twice (we call this a a double palomar) to guarantee the knot doesn't slip when using braid.

I could count on one hand how many times the knott slides around in a given season. It does happen but not enough to consider it a hindrance.

I buy my spinner baits from a custom lure maker who offers baits with a closed loop.
