I just got a new spinning reel and I was about to put line on it, but I figured I'd see what you all do first.

It's going on my dedicated finesse jig/shakeyhead rod, so I'd obviously want FC somewhere.

I have braid on my dropshot set up with a FC leader, and i was thinking of doing that.

Do you back with braid entirely and use a FC leader,

OR

Do you back with something else, put a large amount of braid and then an FC leader?

I back 50% with cheap mono and then spool up the other 50% with my braid. Since I use #10 it would take a lot to fill the spool using all braid. Tie on leaders as conditions dictate.

I use straight fluoro. No leaders for me. However, I agree with Rip, if you want braid use 50% mono backing then fill the rest with braid and add a leader as needed.

Never go with braid straight to the spool unless the spool has holes to put the line through.  The braid has no stretch and will slip on the spool.

I use braid with a leader for finesse.  Copoly in stained water and FC in clear.

This ... the only difference is 15 lb braid for me.
