After Booyah took over Xcalibur, does anyone have any feedback yet about the quality of the Booyah version of Xcalibur lipless cranks?  Are they better/worse/same?

Posted

I bought a few and in a team tournament I was really catching them on a xcalibur one knocker. So I gave my buddy a booyah one and he caught nothing, not sure if it was him or the lure, but I'll try it out myself soon.

They don't sound the same, therefore they are not exactly the same.

EDIT: They still work well though.

I was waiting to see how the new ones are. I'm glad I stocked up. If you look hard enough you can still find them online. Over the last couple weeks I bought a pair of sexy shad, Rayburn red, chrome, and gold.

Got a local shop that has a back surplus, bought all the blue/chrome oneknockers they had. Then decided to start buying a few of every color each week until they are gone. Seems to me when a product line is either bought out (bandit/pradco,among others) or supposedly name changed something else always changes or is lost.

I think both brands are owned by Pradco.

That would be correct.

Same lure different name. Both brands owned by lurenet, check the web site lurenet.com.

everything you can find on lurenet is produced by a Pradco owned company. Xcalibur more or less originally started out as Pradco's premium line of baits. The offered exclusive colors and Excalibur rotating treble hooks on other Pradco companies baits. For example, the Bomber Fat Free Shad with flash foil behind the paint. Over time, these baits were absorbed back into the original brands over time, and Pradco reintroduced the brand to refresh it under the Xcalibur name. This time they featured baits unique to the the brand itself.

Could someone weigh a 1/2 oz Booyah one knocker?

Like this, except this one's an Xcalibur xrk50.

I wholeheartedly believe that if you fished the Xcalibur XR50 and the Booyah in the 50 size side by side, the Xcalibur would outcatch the Booyah. These two baits are not exactly the same, the sound difference is enough to make a difference in getting bit. Everyone laughed at people for paying a little more for Xcalibur traps when they quit making them because all that was supposedly changing was the packaging. It's never that simple and I'm glad I bought a bunch of original Rayburn Reds when I did.

Nothing is ever "the same" after one company is bought out by another. I would hope that would be learned by now after seeing how Rapala screwed with wiggle warts.

Had an Xcalibur blow up on me in my tackle box. Looked like it got pregnant while in there. Contacted Cust. serv. and they sent me 2 Booyah in 1/2 oz. Xcalibur say they are 5/8 oz. They did not have the exact color but sent similar ones. They look, feel, and sound identical to Xcaliburs. I have not tried one in the water however so they may sound different underwater but I doubt it.

Of all the places in the world I found some in my local cabela's. I am assuming they were before booyah because they are doing away with them now. I also found some of the squarebills that were not in the real craw color. Not sure why I didn't get some, foolish of me.
