Stringjam Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 This is a Christmas gift for my dad......wanted a greenish gizzard pattern with some red accents and some flash. Had a hard time getting a good photo (sorry for the busy background). Can't really see the shine of the metallic scaling. Quote
zbass Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Nice job Stringjam! Did you foil that? Looks great! Quote
Stringjam Posted December 23, 2009 Author Posted December 23, 2009 Nice job Stringjam! Did you foil that? Looks great! Thanks Z, No foiling. I sprayed a silver metallic base over the back, and then my green mixture candy (transparent) over the metallic. Kind of gives that impression....definitely not as much "chrome" as real foil, though. zbass Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Cool! I have not used any metallics, yet. I just ordered some though. Hope mine can look like that. Quote
ToledoEF Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Looks good man! I have a haul of new stuff ill be posting later! Quote

Steven Ladner Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Looks good Stringjam! I thought you had foiled it when I first looked at the picture. Post them up Toledo, I enjoy seeing some of the talent of this section of the forum. Quote
Fishwhittler Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 That is one awesome bait! I thought it was foiled at first too... ;D Quote
bmadd Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Looks good string! One question though, why go with those eyes over painted? Quote
Stringjam Posted December 24, 2009 Author Posted December 24, 2009 Looks good string! One question though, why go with those eyes over painted? It's what he wanted. I don't really like protruding eyes. I'm a big fan of the 3D eyes, but only if I can mount them at least a little inset. I know some guys use a grinding cylinder to create such an imprint, but the plastic on some of the baits is awfully thin - I'm not sure you could pull that off without going through on a Rogue. Quote
BIG M Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 That may be your best work yet, great looking bait. Quote
SkilletSizeBass. Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Very nice work stringjam. It does have the foiled look. I'm sure your Dad will really appreciate that. Quote
BobP Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Good looking pattern, Jon. Your Dad should be very happy with that one. I just wish my kids painted baits as well as you do. Quote
