BigSkyBasser Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Hopefully the FLW and B.A.S.S. step up and make a fuss about this as well. That fishery is one of the very few in the west that still draws the Elite Series out and is a staple for tournament fisherman at the high school and collegiate level. Above and beyond tournaments, those sport fish are the main source of draw for recreation and tourism around the country. A similar situation happened in a lake in my home state called Flathead lake. Lake trout we're introduced (which actually did have a large part in killing the salmon.) But to solve it they started Gill netting for years, and the found they we're catching and killing more native Bull Trout and Westslope Cutthroat, than they we're Lake Trout. Quote

I am familiar with that situation too. Once they were able to reduce the lake trout population somewhat, the kokanee salmon DID NOT recover. Lake trout unfairly got the blame for a large part. Quote
