Mr_Poche' Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Let's talk handle lengths. What length do you prefer? I would like to get a longer handle for my ch50e but I'm on the fence about the length. I was thinking 90-95 mm. I want to go longer but don't want it to be too long and awkward. at the same time I don't want to go conservative and be disappointed with the length. Help me out people Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted October 12, 2015 Super User Posted October 12, 2015 Handle upgrade length relative the stock handle is worth considering. Often times adding a longer handle could cause premature wear on the gears. Personally 90mm handles are my favorite. Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted October 12, 2015 Super User Posted October 12, 2015 95mm is perect for me , even on my swimbait reel . Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted October 12, 2015 Super User Posted October 12, 2015 for the record - handle length does NOTHING to change gear ratio ............ Quote
Mr_Poche' Posted October 12, 2015 Author Posted October 12, 2015 for the record - handle length does NOTHING to change gear ratio ............ Lol yeah let's not get into that debate. Let's keep this about handle length. Quote
Hogsticker Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 90 mm seems to be that magic length I can stick all my knuckles between and not smack my pinky knuckle on the reel knob. All my reels are of the smallish low pro variety, and anything much longer just seems odd. Quote
Mr_Poche' Posted October 12, 2015 Author Posted October 12, 2015 I was leaning toward the chrome avail 90 mm sweep. Seems like a good happy medium in length. I just need to get rid of this tiny handle on the ch50e that's driving me nuts. Quote
d-camarena Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Please elaborate on the the premature gear wear thing. Never heard of that Quote
Capt.Bob Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I like the 95mm myself, I can use the 90 and if a reel come with it would leave it, but 85 I just can't adjust to, it would have to go! Quote
Super User MickD Posted October 12, 2015 Super User Posted October 12, 2015 Try some reels at a store, measure what you like, buy it. Or another with the same length. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted October 12, 2015 Super User Posted October 12, 2015 I swap all my reels for 90 Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted October 12, 2015 Super User Posted October 12, 2015 90mm avail would be my choice. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted October 12, 2015 Super User Posted October 12, 2015 A 94MM HawgTech handle will go perfectly on that CH 50. That's what I have on mine. Quote
Mr_Poche' Posted October 12, 2015 Author Posted October 12, 2015 As much as I would like to support a sponsor the chrome avail would match the theme I'm going for much better. Any one know if I can put 2 bearings per knob with the avail handle and septum knobs? Quote

Help me out people I don´t care as long as the line goes in when I turn the handle; my Shimano Scorpion 1000 and Scorpion 1000 Mg have 70 mm handle, most of my reels have 80 mm, the Chronarch100 and Metanium XT have 85 mm , to me they are just the same, I change from one to another and I don´t feel any difference between one and another. Super User .ghoti. Posted October 13, 2015 Super User Posted October 13, 2015 I prefer shorter handles. More ergonomic to my hands and wrists. My most used reels have 80mm TD-Z handles. I have some 90mm and 100mm handles, and will be selling those soon so I can buy a few more 80mm handles. Quote

If you are interested, i have a stock tdz handle (no knobs) that has nut cover i would trade for a 90mm if you would like. Let me know if you want pics and ill get it out of the boat Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 14, 2015 Super User Posted October 14, 2015 Tatula R 100 has 90mm handle. Tom Quote

Yes you can. 4x8x2.5 Any one know if I can put 2 bearings per knob with the avail handle and septum knobs? i have several of the swept avails and i personally think they're the best handles on the market at that price. i like 90mm best. that bearing size looks funny to me...i thought it was 4x7x2.5 although 4x8x2.5 bearings would probably allow you to install revo/lews knobs onto the avail handle (i have not tried this myself yet) Quote
thehooligan Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 85mm is my favorite length. Anything longer just feels awkward to me. Almost all my reels came with 80mm handles so I'm used to shorter ones... Quote
