hatrix Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 My uncle had a few just a few of his boxes sitting around and I thought it was cool. Quote
hatrix Posted October 10, 2015 Author Posted October 10, 2015 I thought so. All those rapalas in their own tubes and then the boxes with rogues and perfect 10's are pretty cool too. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted October 10, 2015 Super User Posted October 10, 2015 Judging by the photo he seems well organized and diligent. Quote
Big C Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Also, those tackle boxes on the left are great for swimbaits 6" and under. Quote
hatrix Posted October 10, 2015 Author Posted October 10, 2015 I didn't even know they made boxes like that. Each row is a insert that pulls out of the box. It is very serious buisness to him. All kinds of custom colors and everything. He doesn't mess around and with the night bite about to start its time to really go to work. I kinda poke fun at him with his line counters and planer boards but the man knows what he is doing on the water that's for sure. I have never ever been skunked with him and we catch some monster eyes. He also always seem to be on the jumbos when he goes for perch. Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted October 10, 2015 Super User Posted October 10, 2015 I noticed a barbie reef runner 2nd from the bottom on the left. That is a killer bait once you get them tuned because they hunt. Quote
hatrix Posted October 11, 2015 Author Posted October 11, 2015 Lol Dwight. You would know all those colors. I am sure you probably have customs too. When I stopped by he just had 2 more new ones he picked up one of them was Victoria Secrets and somethng else similarly named. The tuning is a big deal and the perfect 10's I think need tuned every fish. Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted October 11, 2015 Super User Posted October 11, 2015 Reef runners have a ridiculous number of color options. I am curious how they would work for bass. Could see a deep little ripper working pretty good fished like a jerkbaits in 6-10 fow. There shad baits have quite a few color option. The little ripper could be a good shallow water bait too. 1 Quote

Ya I used to use bonnets on everything but it was to easy to grab a bait and I couldn't cram nowhere near as many baits in a box. I missed the challange of trying to shake a bunch of baits apart. Or the perplexing mysteries of how a hook always seems to find its way into the eyes and rings of other hooks. I do love when I only need to get the last hook free and when I finally do and am ready to celebrate my victory. Then I notice s hook that was previously free has magically tangled it self up again. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 11, 2015 Super User Posted October 11, 2015 This walleye angler is a troller and probably catches a lot of smallmouth targeting walleyes. Tom Quote
bassguytom Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Wow! He should write a book on how to organize tackle. Bravo! Quote
hatrix Posted October 12, 2015 Author Posted October 12, 2015 This walleye angler is a troller and probably catches a lot of smallmouth targeting walleyes. Tom Yes he is a troller. That is what they do out here on Erie. It has been that way forever and probably always will be. Starting very soon if you were to venture down to the lake at night you will see tons of boats and little blue lights off the side slowly moving along specific shorelines. Trolling is the opposite of what most people here think or even I myself do when I think fishing. But on the Great Lakes it is a staple and what you have to do usually if you want to consistently catch them. The great lakes are well to use a word I much despise "epic" in size. There has to be literally billions of fish between them but yet so much dead water at the same time. 1 Quote

hatrix Posted October 12, 2015 Author Posted October 12, 2015 Your uncle has taught you well. Thanks Dwight. I appreciate that as I know you are no slouch yourself out on the lake. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 12, 2015 Super User Posted October 12, 2015 When you are trolling being organized pays dividends by saving time switching lures to optimize time in the catching zone. I grew up trolling for trout, the bass where I fished were cover oriented fish, the trout more open water fish so covering water with different depth and color lures was key to success. Off topic. The lakes I fish today are deep structure with sparse cover and trolling crankbaits is a very effective tool to locate isolated bass and a great way to learn how to use crankbaits. Trolling is not accepted by bass anglers because of tournament rules don't allow it. Tom Quote

hatrix Posted October 12, 2015 Author Posted October 12, 2015 I think the jerkbait boxes are flambeau and the big box with the tubes is a Plano . I am not 100% on that but I am guessing by what kind of latches they had. Quote
hatrix Posted October 12, 2015 Author Posted October 12, 2015 Sorry I double posted te same thing on accident Quote
