Okay, is the SCII blank really an upgrade over previous models with non-SCII? The new 2016 rods have it while the 2015 don't, you can get the 2015 rod for $89 TYD from the St. Croix store...just wondering if that's a good rod or it would be wiser to spend the extra $20 for the new rod with the SCII? Still haven't decided which rod to buy but this is definitely one of the ones I am looking at (others include *** Black and Dobyn's Fury).

For the same price from St. Croix you can get the Rage, which is basically a 2016 Mojo.  I'd go that route...

However the jump from SCII (old Mojo) to SCIII (new Mojo) is dependent on what you are going to use it for.  Moving baits, not so much.  Finesse or touch techniques it's very possible.   There is a lot more to a rod and it being good than just the graphite being used, the scrim, resins, mandrel, are all very important.

I own a Dobyns Fury, *** Black and a Mojo.  I really like the Fury out of the group.

I have a Rage that I like a lot.  At $89, they're a steal.  I'm working up a justification to myself to get another.

I'd be using it for a variety of baits: buzz baits, top water, senkos/craws, small swim baits and crank baits. I am also thinking of getting a Daiwa Tatula 100HL reel but it seems like finding the right rod to fit this reel may be a challenge because of it's size/weight. I too really like the Dobyn's Fury but am unsure if the Tatula would be a good match for it or vice/versa.

A Tatula on a Fury would be great (as well as on a Rage I am sure).  I have had Zillions, Fuego, Citica E's on my Fury and they were all ok.  a 734 Fury would do reasonably well for what you are looking to do.

The SCIII is an improvement over the SCII. It's the same material that the Avid blanks are made out of.

The 2015 mojos have SCII, while the new 2016s have SCIII. Like others have said, great deal out of a great rod right now on the website. The Rage is a good, sensitive rod.

I'd opt for the SCIII for the extra money. The Dobyns would be another good choice. Call Brian at TackleTrap, checkout his website too. He knows his stuff ( unlike the Big online stores) and ships fast and free when you buy from him.. He's quickly become the only dealer I will buy from that has to ship a rod.

If you don't mind the neoprene handle of the Rage I would suggest that for you. Otherwise, the Mojo is really good at the $89 price. The Rage even more so IMHO.

Really? Their website shows $89 like the Mojo. Thanks for the heads up. I'll be calling tomorrow!
