I was wondering if anyone had advice for what baits seem to work the best in the fall. I am mostly fishing natural lakes in the Northwest and we don't have shad in our lakes. Water temp out here is around 60 right now. Water clarity is still good 6-10ft. We have both largemouth and smallmouth. I havent spent a ton of time fishing in the fall so any pointers would help.

I like fishing lipless cranks, jerkbaits and flat sided balsa crankbaits.   I'm sure there are lots of other good fall baits but these are the ones I enjoy fishing.

I would be throwing square bills until I found some that were concentrated then maybe something like a senko or fluke?

Over the past few years I have noticed that I get better bites on bigger baits this time of year. I usually start off with a 3/4 ounce rat-l-trap, or a big jig and pig.

Poppers, toads, swim jigs, 6" worms, spinnerbaits and square bills.

Time of day, Water color, wind and structure will determine what I will start with and switch to.

Bass are chasing shad and fattening up for winter...I like 1.5/2.5 size squarebills fished shallow!  I imagine swimbaits would work great as well.

Me too.. It's a great crank and locator, rat l trap Nova's are my favorites. I like to use a 1.5 square bill in rocky area's too.

A crankbait such as a Fire Tiger Bomber Model A and a texas rigged worm   have been a good one two combo for me for many years .

This is true. I crushed some fish today on 6" hudds. I also did really well on the biggest big hammers not the sledgehammers.
