I saw a tommy baffle video where he was talking about inserting foam in hollow baits to make them float, is there something you specifically buy for this? I tried researching this but found nothing. I would like to try it on a c-rig

Styrofoam peanuts that come as packaging.  they do sell special foam balls but i forget what they're called

They make "line floats" for walleye fishing. They look like a little "pill".

Second option is to buy baits made from elaztech plastics. They float quite well.

I have some long worm elaztech worms and they do not float. The package says tbey do, the short ones do, but the long ones don't.

Hmm... The Z-man Turbo craws and saw tail worms that I have used both float very well.  The turbo craws float so much that i dont like putting them on jigs because they stand up the jigs.

Closed cell foam.. Carolina floaters ( they are slip sinker type foam & are painted different colors. Bass pro sells those.

Definitely ear plugs. They compress really well to fit small places like hollow lizards, then they expand, stay put, and are very buoyant. And you can get them at most drug stores. And later they are handy if your spouse snores.

I cut small styrofoam cigar(crappie/panfish) floats into pieces and shove them into tubes and either dropshot or c-rig them. Vary the size of the pieces to get different rates of rise. A spot of Venom worm glue will keep even small pieces in place. It works amazingly well at times. I will even shake them in place on a heavier dropshot, too. The Z-Man baits will float, depending on the size of hook you use. For instance, if you use a 4/0 superline hook, even the 6" lizard won't float.

check out zman baits. almost all of them float and you can fish just about an entire day with one plastic bait. especially if youre like me and you dont catch many fish :grin:

I am getting ready for fishing this summer and starting to make some homemade bait. Came across this discussion. I get lots of packages from Amazon that contain styrofoam brick packaging. Good stuff for fishing gadgets. I use to scrape off some sand size pieces and mix with bait balls for flotation.

Now thinking about casting some frog lures and mixing the Styrofoam with the melted gummy bears for the liquid and pouring into the mold. Been browsing YouTube for all sorts of new bait ideas {grin}

 Bass newb- Elaztech baits are heavily salted. Fish them a while and they will start to float as the salt dissolves. You can also stretch them and "pop" them and salt will fly out all over the place.
