I drove over and fished a natural stream in SoCal, drains from the mountains, then to the ocean. I was fishing a while, and was catching plenty of 'regularly' looking largemouth bass. I kept fishing my drop shot, and I caught some unique looking bass. Some had a bar across the entire side, and others looked like a spotted bass almost. Can anybody identify these? (If I did anything wrong with this post I just started posting so let me know)

largemouth that has been shallow a while. Their pattern is a lot more noticeable after "getting a tan". But they are individuals.

Finding a stream in SoCal with water today that has a bass population is an amazing feat!

The San Diego River and San Lius Rey looks like a small stream and has a bass population, could be that's where you are located. The bass look like largemouth, the dorsal fin is separated, can't tell where the lower jaw ends relative to the eye or if the bass have any tongue teeth. California has been stocked with both Florida and Northern strain LMB, Red Eye, Shoal, both Southern and Northern Spotted bass and smallmouth bass.

You can't always identify the bass specie by coloration due to the waterway environment affects coloration.

I agree, it's extremely rare sight expesially with the drought. I get around 100 bass every time

I go there, along with a 6 1/2 pound bass. Unfortunately, like most fishing spots a friend told me it's a "secret"
