fisherrw Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Best rod in the 100 to 150 dollar range? Looking to get a new one for jigs spinnerbaits and top water. Quote
poisonokie Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I'd look into a Tatula for sure. The 6'10" mh/f, 7'1" mh/r or mh/xf are good bets depending on the line you use. I use the 711mhrb as a general purpose single hook rod with 50# braid. 1 Quote
timsford Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 tatula or *** black would be my pick. a mh fast in the length you prefer should cover all those techniques 3 Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted September 30, 2015 Super User Posted September 30, 2015 i have a 6'10" MHF tatula that i use for those applications and love it 2 Quote
UCChris Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I've heard the Omens are killer. I picked up a Fenwick Silverhawk last night. It is usually $100, but I got it on sale for $59.99 before tax. Won't be able to fish it until this weekend, but just looking it over, the construction looks way nicer than the other rods I've had in the same $75-125 price range. Quote
Evan K Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I love *** Blacks. It'd be hard to convince me to try something else at that price point. Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted September 30, 2015 Super User Posted September 30, 2015 *** Black, I've owned both generations. The Gen 2 is better, but they're both fantastic rods. Great customer service too. Quote
desmobob Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I have a few MHF rods in that price range: Kistler Carbon Steel, St. Croix Premier and Kistler Magnesium TS. I like the Kistler Magnesium TS the best of the bunch, but would much rather spend a little more and get the KLX series rods. The Premier is a club. Tight lines, Bob Quote

Super User Jrob78 Posted September 30, 2015 Super User Posted September 30, 2015 Kistler KLX on sale right now through Kistler. That or a St. Croix Rage on sale through St. Croix. 1 Quote
NoahWatts Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I would suggest a tatula xt. Just got one and for $99 it is very hard to beat. Quote
fisherrw Posted October 1, 2015 Author Posted October 1, 2015 boy im surprised to hear so much about diawa tatula!! the rod I get Im gonna be pairing with a diawa t3 1016 so I think I have found the perfect match 1 Quote
5fishlimit Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 The Tatula rods are sleepers! I admittedly don't use mine too much, but it is more because I have it as my dedicated spinnerbait/chatterbait rod (7' Med/Mod). I am not a fan of throwing spinnerbaits/chatterbaits that much anymore, but the weather conditions and season called for it. It is a great performer, and at the end of the day when I was putting away my gear I said I would have to get another (probably the 7'2" H/F). Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted October 8, 2015 Super User Posted October 8, 2015 tatula or *** black would be my pick. a mh fast in the length you prefer should cover all those techniques ^^this^^ ... Specifically the new *** Black 2 Quote
ogbfishing Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Kistler Mg is on sale on TW, $160 dollar rod for $100 Quote
Evan K Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 I have one *** Black 1st gen, MH Fast and I really like it. I have a 2nd gen *** waiting for me at home today (I hope) That I can't wait to try out either! The Tatulas look nice, but I am a cork handle guy. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted October 8, 2015 Super User Posted October 8, 2015 I'd take a good look at the new gen Mojo Bass from St. Croix. Length would be up to you, but if it were me, I'd stick with the 6'8" MH/F. Quote
