Hey guys, thanks in advance for your input.

I have a 7' M-F Micro magic pro that I use for my finesse fishing. I enjoy it  a lot, light and sensitive. I use it for shaky heads, wacky rig senkos, dropshotting, etc.. I recently purchased some Izorline XXX in 20b test (broke above 27lb) for my MH rod. I really like it strong, low stretch, and decent abrasion resistance had a few pike bite my lipless crank. Tooth marks but still had my lure.

Here's my question, I started looking into finesse jigs. About 5/16oz with a light wire hook. I want to use izorline xxx in about 10lb. Would this line be good for finesse jigs but still be good for certain finesse applications that focus on presentation like a drop shot? Maybe 8lb? I would like to attempt both with the same setup.

What do you guys use for finesse jigs?

I use either a major craft volkey 68L/bfs or ms-x 65ml, and 20# power pro super slick with an 8# invizx leader if the water is clear or if I'm around rip rap. Sometimes I'll go up to 10# red label, but no lighter than that 8#. It's the same diameter as other 6# lines. There's also room enough on my spool for a long leader for vertical dropshotting.

For finesse jigs, I like a medium power fast action bait caster for shallow water and same but spinning for deep water. The medium keeps me from overpowering and bending the lighter hook. 8lb or 10lb works for both just make sure to have your drag set accordingly.

i like 8-10lb FC for finesse jigs, specifically sunline sniper with kvd line conditioner sprayed on it. in stained or muddy water i use 15lb powerpro with no leader.

if you had asked about 1/4oz jigs with a small plastic craw, id tell you that i use spinning but for 5/16oz it might depend on the weight of the plastic trailer. 3/8oz light wire jigs plus trailer and im grabbing the baitcaster with 12lb FC.

for dropshot, i use 6-8lb sniper on spinning.

My standard for this question would be a 5/16 Eakins jig with a smallish cray trailer.  I wouldn't be surprised if the whole package weighed a little more than 3/8 oz but I haven't weighed one lately.   In the waters that I fish, I throw that bait on a 7' or so MH jig rod using 15 lb Abrazx for the most part.

Distance is ok - if I need more distance I'll either back off on the brakes and trust my thumb not to back lash or throw a heavier bait, more often the latter.

Now for what I consider a more finessful approach, i.e. a 3/16 or 1/4 oz Brewer head with some sort of plastic, usually a 5" paddle tail worm, sometimes I throw that on spinning gear but I've found a Falcon Eakins Special jig rod (6'10" on the Med side of Mh) and a Curado 50 and 10 lb abrazx works great.  When I get bit I feel like I've got a little more control with the bait casting gear.

Izorline XXX 8# = .011 diameter equal to Sunline SuperSniper 12# test. You could go with 10# @ .010 D Super Sniper for all your finesse fishing using a baitcast rod-reel combo, I use this during the cold water months for my 7/16 oz jig fishing....5/0 and DD size bass.
