Ohioboy Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I'm looking at a 1991 Ranger 392v With 2008 Yamaha vmax 175 hp Minnkota fortrex 80 lbs Humminbird 1197 si gps guy wants 11500 what do ya'll think? Quote
KevO Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I would say that's too high for a 25 year old boat. Good motor, nice accessories but not worth that much. Quote
GetJigginWithIt Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 NADA says low retail 11,600 Quote
joefish Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Too much for a 25 year old boat, no matter the condition/ Quote
Super User tomustang Posted September 30, 2015 Super User Posted September 30, 2015 It's the premium of being a ranger, which really means nothing but being overpriced. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted September 30, 2015 Super User Posted September 30, 2015 I think that's probably a little high, especially this time of year. A lot of it depends on the condition of the boat itself. Quote

If this is the rig you are looking at, I would suggest that the price is at least $2k high based on the fact that the dealership will probably be sitting on this boat through a long winter. http://www.boattrader.com/listing/1991-RANGER-392V-Comanche-102536077 Mention this fact to them and suggest that you have a way to free up some of their cash flow! BaitMonkey1984 Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 I bought an 2001 R81vs with 150 yamaha max, motorguide tour pro 82 lbs thrust and two 5 year old lowrance unties for 10k. Boat and motor in perfect shape. I upgraded the electronics and many other options. I think you can get newer. Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted October 4, 2015 Super User Posted October 4, 2015 You are looking at a boat that would be overprice if it had the original motor for sure. The newer motor is adding a lot of value to its price. Check the condition of the boat over really well, then ask to get the boat out on the water for a demo. If all that is good then start talking price. Most people's, especially dealers, suggested price is not their final price. Offer them 10,500 to 11,000 see what they say. Good Luck Quote
tbone1993 Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 This is the one I would be looking at. Same shop. http://www.boattrader.com/listing/2008-RANGER-188VS-Comanche-102563345 Quote
Cmiller Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 I would be worried about the wood in the transom and stringer on a boat thats 25 years old. Its definitely worth the 3-500 to get the boat surveyed when you are spending that kind of money on an old boat. It would be a bummer to buy it and have the transom crack the first year you own it. Ranger stopped using wood in the late 80s. 91 should be all fiberglass. That being said even fiberglass transoms go bad 1 Quote
