I've been wanting one for awhile now. A buddy texted me out of the blue a couple days ago that he doesn't want to take him with him as he moves to California. He has an Ocean Kayak Big Game Prowler 2 with a paddle, seat, rod holders, and a couple other extras that he's used less than 10 times, getting it for about 1/3 of it's original price. I'm really excited because there's some places that I've really wanted to fish that I can't get to with a standard boat or even a johnboat that this should be perfect for. Does anyone have this kayak or know someone that does? Just curious if it has any quirks or anything that I should be aware of. I'm supposed to pick it up Sunday morning so hopefully I'll have some pictures by the end of the weekend.

Good luck with the new kayak.  Good timing - I just picked up my first kayak this morning, too. I got a Hobie Revo 13.  I've been reading alot about kayaks recently.  The Ocean Kayak Big Game Prowler 2 comes with good reviews.  Enjoy!

I don't own one but paddled one. I was able to handle it well, track well and overall a nice ride. Good luck and welcome to the addiction.

Here she is after I got done knocking all the dust and spiders off her. Hopefully give it a test run in the morning after I get off work.

congrats clayton!  that's a solid unit there and sounds like a great price too!  i'd rig up a decent fish finder, make yourself a crate and put that thing to work.

Two things.

1. Like all kayaks that ride high in the water they tend to get blown around a bit, just the nature of the beast.

2. The area where your feet will land when standing is a little cramped, not a big deal just not as comfortable to stand in as my Predator.

It sounds like you got a pretty good deal. Congrats.

BTW

Kayaks kick@$$ on the pits in S.E. Kansas.

I think I'm really going to like this kayak bassin' stuff  :eyebrows:  Fished for 1.5 hours after work yesterday morning and caught 15-20 all on a homemade bladed jig or Zman Palmetto Bug.

nice fishing clayton!  your bass boat is going to feel neglected before too long...  you'll get mad about putting gas in and maintaining the boat and all that!

by the way, who in their right mind would fish some ugly looking bladed jig as that thing?  it looks like some god awful duke, kentucky, kansas blue!!!  probably ticks the fish off and that's why they crush it!

also, you fishing that palmetto bug on a swinging jig head?

Nice. 15-20? Man I'll be lucky if I can get over 3.

On my yak that is.

Those are some skinny fish, no wonder they're biting...

Sweet rig, all ready for "acessorizing"! Check out the Kayak DIY and fishing sites on FB, a valuable resource.
