Hi guys.

I found a part under the console of my boat today. The boat is a 2004 Tracker Pro-Team 185TX. I found it while running wires for a new sonar. The part was resting on top of a rat's nest of wires.

The part (pic attached) appears to have a fitting on one end (right side in the pic). The fitting appears to have broken off. The blue end is a cap.

Any idea what this may be? I assume it has been inside the console like this for some time. I have not noticed any accessory malfunctioning.

Thanks for your help.

If this is a cover for the end of the steering cable, should I replace it? I wouldn't even know where to start, short of pulling the console apart.

You should be able to see it if you lay on your back and poke your head under the console.  You will see the cable enter the pulley on top, probably covered with the same material, and exit on the bottom.  This short piece of cable on the bottom is where your part goes. I have no idea how it is fastened but it may be obvious if you locate the area I'm referring to.  Pics might help if you get lost.  Good Luck
