Joedodge Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 So I'm gonna be hitting a lake Saturday that is lined heavily with cat tails and lily pads. What do y'all prefer to flip in there in the heat of summer? Quote
Rhino68W Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I am a creature bait addict. But that's just me. Quote
Turtle135 Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 A texas rigged soft plastic with a pegged weight. I had to do a double take because up here in Maryland it is no longer the heat of summer. Cooler water for me indicates jig, hottest water of the season makes me reach for a soft plastic first. Good luck! Quote
bigfruits Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 id start with what you have more confidence in. i prefer jigs but a weedless t-rig might get less hang ups. how bout a creature on an offset shank jighead? Quote
Starchalopakis Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Dead of summer? Its almost October, haha! Try em both!! 2 Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted September 24, 2015 Super User Posted September 24, 2015 It depends on water clarity and cover, if it is clear and / or weedy then a creature bait, if there is wood and open pockets with stained water (less that 2' visibility) then a jig is what I'm going to use. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted September 24, 2015 Super User Posted September 24, 2015 Cattails n pads I run a Mann's classic spinnerbaits along the edges. I cast past my target and bring the bait near them. Otherwise I swear by my 1/8oz brass Carolina rig with a creature, or senkos. The jig is a 24/7/365 all year round bait. Quote
Kentuckysteve Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I like both but i am catching more on the creatures right now.I love the lizards and brush hogs. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted September 24, 2015 Global Moderator Posted September 24, 2015 Both 24/7/365 Ditto Mike Quote
Joedodge Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 Thanks so much for the opinions everyone Quote
Weld's Largemouth Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I don't know if anybody noticed but Joedodge is in Florida. It is like summer there right now. I would go with the weedless t-rig due to the insane vegetation in florida ponds and lakes Quote
Joedodge Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 Haha thanks for noticing I should have made that more known lol. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted September 24, 2015 Super User Posted September 24, 2015 I use weedless hooks in and near the vegetation I hate cleaning salad off my hooks constantly. Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 24, 2015 Super User Posted September 24, 2015 I don't know if anybody noticed but Joedodge is in Florida. It is like summer there right now. I would go with the weedless t-rig due to the insane vegetation in florida ponds and lakes Don't matter where his at I would still throw both Quote
Hurricane Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Love using a booyah black/blue jig with a green pumpkin super chunk. .. Catches big bass every time for me Quote
poisonokie Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 it's still like summer in Oklahoma, too. It's pretty much finesse or die still. Quote
Joedodge Posted September 25, 2015 Author Posted September 25, 2015 Well I got my black/blue 3/4 punch flipping jig with flappy daddy trailer and some back blue z man creaturz baits for tomm Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted September 26, 2015 Super User Posted September 26, 2015 I would drop a jig in between the weed beds, and drag a weedless plastic right through the middle of the weeds. Quote
NotnatsSamoht Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Still dealing with the heat here and Texas rigged seems to be working better for me. Quote
Super User Raul Posted September 26, 2015 Super User Posted September 26, 2015 Both 24/7/365 ^^^^^^ what he said ! ^^^^ Quote
