I started bass fishing heavy last December so I fished through the fall bite and springs bite which was amazing. But now that summer is here man I'm having a hell of a time catching fish even flipping jogs and creatures in cover. Is this common for the bite to die down do to the heat and they get slugish? Do any of you even bother going out this time of year? Quote

Black Jitterbugs, black Spooks, and Black/dark bladed spinnerbaits are my arsenal. I see you are in Florida so I don't know how safe night fishing can be there. Quote

Do any of you even bother going out this time of year? Hi Joe, its been a while. Summer fishing here in Fl can be frustrating and rewarding. With summer, comes rain, which causes water to move. Finding moving water can help you in finding fish. Fishing in thick cover can also be very productive. Punching the vegetation quickly comes to mind. Lastly, fishing during the cooler part of the day helps sometimes as well. Early morning, early evening, lastly night fishing. Don't worry though, in your part of the woods the cool down will be happening soon enough. Good luck Quote

I should be able to get out early Saturday. Before the sun comes up. Does flipping and punching work well if it's still dark out? Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted September 30, 2015 Super User Posted September 30, 2015 The fishing has been spectacular this Summer, you just have to fish when the Sun isn't out so strong.Many bass that don't bite during the day in the Summer will bite during periods of low light-sunrise,sunset, nighttime, and overcast days.Don't be surprise if the amount and size of your bass increase if you fish during these times.
