Ghostshad Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Ive not been on the water since spring, and fall is getting close the days & nights are cooling off. What baits will you throw, and how & where will you use them ? God Bless & thanks a Million Quote
papajoe222 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I basically use many of the same baits I use during pre-spawn, but I tend to go bigger. Spinnerbaits with a single, large willow blade. Big, fat bodied cranks and jigs with big trailers. I work them faster than in the spring and I concentrate more on the forage than on areas leading to the spawning sites although many times they are the same. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted September 23, 2015 Super User Posted September 23, 2015 Dropshot for the tougher fish Finesse and various hair jigs with painfully slow retrieves Chatterbaits with a paddle tail trailer retrieves slow and steady Jerkbaits like the LC 100 Chrome and blue lipless crankbaits These are my favorites. Generally I will try a few colors and retrieves until I find the right one for that day and the conditions. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted September 23, 2015 Super User Posted September 23, 2015 I just posted this in the other fall fishing post , so I will copy and paste here . "Went out today for the first time in a month. The lake had turned over and there was al lot of fish showing up around 14 foot .I went to a point and was throwing a rapala DT 14 and a deep diving Strike King crankbait . I would throw the lures in 10 to 15 foot of water on top of the point. The crankbait would hit bottom and most of the strikes came after the lure came off the point and lost contact with the bottom. I caught around 50 bass 12 to 15 inches like that . It was fun ." Quote
Hogsticker Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Paddle tail swimbaits, flat sided cranks, lipless cranks, jerkbaits. I'll let the fish dictate how they want it. Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted September 23, 2015 Super User Posted September 23, 2015 Same stuff but maybe bigger. Whatever they were eating tin the spring, if it's an annual hatch that usually die off like shad, minnows or shiners, are bigger now. Quote
Random Tackle Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I just got off the river (water levels way down had to drag the canoe over many laydowns. All fish were in deeper pools) and slayed them on a weightless Ol' Monster and a speedcraw with a 1/16 split shot. Caught one fish on a small War Eagle before I clipped it off in favor of throwing 2 different plastics. They seem to favor a quicker retrieve instead of my regular speed for plastics. Quote
BannedForSpamming-1234555 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I haven't done any fall bass fishing but I hear they're more aggressive? Quote
JigMe Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Bass should start to school up and should be able to pick few up once you find them. If you find a good group of baitfish then Bass will be near by. I like to use a search bait like pointer 100 or lipless crackbait. Once you can find them, then slow down and fish the entire area using few different baits. Quote
